I put in my 200 miles today.

I really debated about just sitting still today, but being in a less than interesting campground overnight, I decided to push on.  I’m glad I did.  The Texas T Campground in Cornersville, TN, is a vast improvement.  In the past, I’ve been able to put in more miles when I’m trying to make time to get to a location, but not this trip.  I was beat after five hours on the road.  This is a well taken care of campground, and cost me $6 less than last night.  Yes, there are interstate road sounds, but with the present cost of gas, I’m more inclined to take the easiest off and on the interstate rather than drive 20 miles off of it for a quieter location.  I don’t hear all those sounds anyway when I close all the windows.  Smile

Being so close to the interstate, I’m surprised I have such minimal service for my phone and aircard.  So, no pictures tonight.  Of course, I didn’t take any either.  It has been overcast and drizzly all day, and it looks like that will continue for the rest of my journey to Indiana.  I did notice a few instances of the effects of the tornadoes along the way, but not too much.  At least the temps have dropped some.  My traveling garb today was jeans and a sweatshirt.  What a difference 400 miles makes.

My plans are to make it to Elizabethtown, KY, tomorrow.  I’ll drive through Nashville on a Sunday morning, and stop a little short of Louisville in the afternoon.  I want to check that campground out for a possible longer stay this fall.  There’s lots to see in the area, but I’m just not in the mood right now.  A pretty boring existence right now, but that’s life.

Thanks for stopping by…. talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Thank you for the travel update, Judy. Jeans and sweatshirt sounds like good traveling attire to me--not too hot and not too cold.

  2. It seems it can be hard enough to just drive without planning a site seeing expedition. Don't over stress yourself, you still may be in need of some recovery time.

  3. Jeans and sweatshirts are the perfect traveling attire. Today in Northern Wisconsin, I wore a turtle neck, hooded sweatshirt, and my down vest, with my jeans and wool socks. Don't come this far north for a while. Happy travels.

  5. That's the nice thing about RVing - you can pick up and move when you want. I don't think the road sounds would bother me, either, especially if the campground is less $$ and the gas to get there is less, too. The price of gas is going to affect how much I actually travel. It must be tough for the RVers who like to keep going to different places every couple of days.

  6. 200 mi is definitely enough for one day...you are right behind us -- we were in Cave City, KY Thurs nite and are in Evansville, IN last night & tonight but are heading south towards St Louis tomorrow. Gas is $4.07 in Evansville -- the most we've paid thusfar. Be safe!

  7. You know the RV 220 rule don't you?

  8. Nothing wrong with wearing jeans and a sweatshirt while traveling. Come to think of it, that's what I'm wearing at home right now!

  10. What a comfortable outfit to travel in....you should be comfortable!!
Yep, we never notice those road noises either, especially when we aren't staying for extended time somewhere. You just need a nice place to rest and relax. Close those windows and tune out!
Driving through Nashville on Sunday should be fairly easy. We'll wave as you pass by!!

  11. I agree with the folks above about shorter driving distances & earlier times off the road. Do I do that? Nope, I'm one of those characters who loves driving & has a bad habit of pushing the hours & the miles. I'm with y'all on blue jeans alright but not sweatshirts. I'm a button up shirt guy:)) Safe travels through all them there populated areas over here on the eastern side of the country.

  12. We came through Nashville on Sunday and it was pretty good, but we did get stopped by a rig that wrecked and blocked traffic for a while. During football season never go through Nashville, on Sunday, when they play at home. Been there, done that, and was stuck for over an hour. Safe travels.

  13. Sort of hoping to stay in the shorts and t-shirt areas for traveling myself!

We're trying to learn that RV 220 (or should it be 222?) Rule ourselves. We're not too good at it yet -- hopefully we'll get better over the next couple of years!

  14. Not every day can be exciting. We often just get off the main road for overnights. The road noise usually does not bother us. As you noted with the price of fuel, does not make much sense to go too far out of the way just for one night.

  15. Don't be in a big hurry to get up here..We have a frost warning tonight....But next week it's to be 50-60's and sunny...good, I forgot to plant my onion sets...duh....

  16. Hi Judy, regarding your noisy shades. As someone else commented, you can put stick on velco type padding on the inside of your shades to stop the rattling. Did you do all your windows or just the front? When we had our MCD shades installed (our best investment yet!) in our MH, they gave us a bag of small square peel off velco tabs (the part that doesn't have the grippy stuff - techical I know). You probably can find something similar to cut at a good fabric store. These are about 3/4" squares, black for the day shades and white for the night shades.

    Safe travels!
