Ordinary struggles

There were a number of items on my to do list this morning to accomplish.  Some were easy, others not so much.  First off, I renewed my insurance on the MH…easy peasy.  Then I called the insurance company to begin a claim for the two disasters to the rig that I had last month.  Eventually, a claims agent called me back with a couple of options.  They did not seem to like the idea of me calling a mobile RV tech to get the work done.  I had two places to take the rig to choose from.  One is in Joliet, Il, and I decided I didn’t want to do that.  The other choice is in Bourbonnais, Il, about 33 miles from here.  I’m thinking I may take a drive in the car over there tomorrow to check things out.

All of tonight’s pics are from around the campsite.

My digital indoor/outdoor thermometer bit the dust the other day, so I went to the local True Value Hardware to get a new one.  This one is kind of an un-smart thermometer.  The one that died had a guy on the screen that showed you what to wear, and had so many bells and whistles that I could hardly touch the thing without setting off some kind of an alarm!  The new one just shows the temp inside and out, and the time.  Of course, as I set it up, it didn’t work.  I redid it three times.  Since there is only 30 seconds allowed between putting the batteries in the outside transmitter before you have to install the inside batteries, I just set the outside receiver on my chair.  That was the problem.  I guess my rig is too shiny to allow the signal to go through.  It worked just fine once I put it between the two rear dualies.

Next, it was time to dump the grey water.  I’ve been having overflow issues with the sewer hookup since there are no threads to screw the end into.  I decided to switch to my Rhino-flex hose and cram it into the rubber receptacle, with my foot firmly planted on it.  That seemed to work, except for two things.  As I gazed back at the rig, a big fat mouse was staring back at me!  Ugh!  He took off and jumped out, but I’m thinking he chewed a few little holes in the hose as there was a telltale spray going on.  Sad smile  I put a peanut butter loaded trap in the bay, but now I need to buy a new hose.  Fiddlesticks!

I’m not sure I’ll have enough to post a nightly blog while I’m here since I’m hoping these challenges will slow down.  Think I’ll fix a big bowl of hot buttered popcorn tonight.  It’s been months since I’ve enjoyed that little indulgence.  Smile

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  4. Mice & squirrels...I think I shared we had squirrels chew on our water hose -- better that than the sewer.

  8. Butter and more butter, please. Good luck getting rid of your "friends". Got them in the house before we started full timing. Did not sleep for a week until we were able to round all of them up and do away with them.

  10. Don't ya' just hate the run-around insurance companies give you. You pay in forever and when its their turn to pay out, usually its nothing but grief. Enjoy the popcorn.

  13. It is the little things that can drive you nuts! I had a new sewer hose out a couple of weeks ago and innocently pulled the black water lever and was horribly surprised to find "stuff" flying all over the place from several large holes in my new hose. Turns out the ace campground handy man decided it was time to weed whack around my coach and that was that for my new hose. Lucky for him he did not cut into my power line or he would have had a couple of holes of his own to take care of :)

  14. I hope the repair place works out for you and that everything gets repaired in a jiffy once you get approved. At least you have some time to get it done now. Hope the popcorn makes you feel taken care of!

  15. I want a thermometer like your old one that broke. Sounds really interesting. If it's 110 degrees outside, what does he wear? Nothing??
