A day at home

I have quite a few of those this summer since I’m not volunteering anywhere.  This morning, Emma and I took a little hike down one of the campground paths that I had not investigated before due to the wet conditions.

It goes through the oak woods surrounding the campground.  I probably should have taken it earlier in the season to find more wild flowers.  It was a nice stroll, and I only got a few new mosquito bites along the way.  Of course, I didn’t douse myself in repellant before we headed out.  62 Pioneer Campground, IN summer, 20111

I took a few more shots around my campsite to show you today.  The campground owner hasn’t been back to install an electric meter or clean up what was left behind from the 50 amp line installation, so I did a bit of cleaning up myself.  (I’m in no rush for him to install the meter  Smile)   I rolled the big round wooden thing that the electric cable was wrapped around to the front of the site to use as a table for cooking out around the campfire.  (top right)  Then I moved the 2X4s back to line my second car park area. (bottom right)  He had dug them all up and put them across the road.  I’ll have to think about getting some more firewood, as the load that Jack brought me is dwindling.

Later in the afternoon,  Emma and I headed down the road to get some pics of some of the lilies that are blooming at some of the other sites.

One of them had a really interesting bug on it.  Don’t know what it is, but get a load of those long legs and antennae.  What a contrast between the bright green of the insect and the red rusty color of the lily.

IMG_2536Both Pam and I remarked on how almost no one around here walks.  Everyone seems to own a golf cart, and they drive around in circles on the campground roads.  I have no idea where they’re going.  One guy spends hours driving around with his big black German shepherd.  Seems like that’s the only exercise that poor dog gets… sitting in the golf cart.  Hmmm…I’ve also noticed that most folks are tipping the scales on the high side.  Think there’s a connection??

I think I’ll be off tomorrow to have my car detailed, whatever that means.  I just want it cleaned inside and out.  Then Robyn, I , and the grandgirls might tour the Albanese Candy Factory.  They’re supposed to be famous for gummy bears.  It could be a sugar high day!

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. The campground in Marseilles with seasonal lots has a lot of golf carts and even 4 wheelers, now.
My friends kept wanting to drive me back to the coach, and didn't understand that I "wanted" to walk.

  2. Once you finish with the cable reel as a table, it should be a big addition to the campfire.

  4. Nice of them to leave you an outdoor table! I like those lily photos but have no idea what the green bug is.

Mosquitoes - I hate them, they LOVE me...but sometimes I don't know which is worse, the bugs or the nasty stuff we have to use to keep them away - YUK...

  6. I love lillies! Gorgeous pictures!

When I first started campground camping, many years ago, the use of golf carts baffled me...it still does!

  11. Don't let anyone eat gummy bears in your nice clean car!

  12. We get a kick out of the golf carts at some campgrounds. We actually have one for our use as camphosts, but rarely use it. We like to walk. Often we've seen people driving in the cart with their dog running along side. This must be their idea of walking the dog. Most of the time, it appears that the person in the cart could use the exercise more than the dog :)

  13. They drive golf carts here, too. It's such a small park, it really don't get it.
