I spoke to Andy this morning shortly before he was released from the hospital. They performed the appendectomy late last night, and he was feeling much better this morning. It sure seems to be an easier procedure these days.
On the home front, I’m feeling a bit better today, and truly appreciate all the words of concern and support for both of us. I’m still struggling with the CT scan stuff, but I believe the antibiotics are beginning to do their thing. I’m still not doing any crane dances yet, but the pain has begun to subside.
I was able to sit at my table today, and you know my camera was right beside me. These pesky little guys reminded me that life goes on no matter what our trials and tribulations may be.
I sure was glad that I could sit outside for a bit today. I was certainly not up to dealing with 100+ fifth graders, or going on a hike around the Dees Trail, but it was an improvement over yesterday. There’s not much else to report for today.
THE END!!
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Happy you are feeling some better -- and Andy too!
ReplyDeleteYippee Skippy...glad you are on the mend
ReplyDeleteI have diverticulitis too. And I know the pain you are experiencing. One of the things my doctor told me is to make sure I have a high intake of fibre. So everyday I take Metamucil. I buy the one you mix with water. They have several different flavours, orange, grapefruit, berry and of course plain old regular. I have found and my sister also that is has really lessened the attacks that we get. Give it a shot. Can't hurt and it keeps things moving, if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteSo glad both you and your son are better. Take it easy over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are both on the mend and that you are taking it easy. Hopefully each day you will be feeling better. This health stuff just jumps out at us out of the blue it seems. Pretty scarey!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Andy is feeling much better. Just take it one step at a time and you will be feeling awesome in no time. Enjoy your weekend. ~wheresweaver
ReplyDeleteNothing like pesky guys & Hummers to keep us grounded in difficult times.....

ReplyDeleteOh, Emma, I'm so sorry to hear about the medical issues and how they've messed up the visit from your son and his family. But I'm glad you're doing better, and that your daughter-in-law is as well. Take it slow this weekend.

ReplyDeleteYou always manage to have a great blog with beautiful photos regardless of your circumstances. Glad you and your son are both feeling some better.
ReplyDeleteGood news on your son! Amazing how fast he was released to go home.
ReplyDeleteHope that you'll be back on your feet just as fast terrorizing fifth graders...
I have no idea what you are experiencing! I have been out of touch with blog land for a while and am going to have to read your older posts. Whatever is going on, please know that you are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I just read back about 3 posts & could not believe what I was reading! You just never know what the next day will bring. I hope you continue to heal & feel better. I'm sorry that Andy had to face his surprise surgery too! Wow. Now everyone must rest up & heal.

Glad you and your son, Andy, are on your way to recovery. Getting so that I'm afraid to read blogs--brings to the forefront just how things can change so fast. Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteI had to reread the first paragraph a couple of times to make sure they released him from the hospital this morning after having the appendix out last night. They have definitely improved that surgery a whole lot. I'm glad you're feeling better but am sure hoping that by tomorrow you are much much better.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you and your son are feeling better. Prayers continue that you both continue to mend and feel better with each passing day.
ReplyDeleteHope you continue to improve. That pain is No Joke. Glad to hear your son is on the mend too. Amazing how often it never rains but it pours.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Glad to read that you're both feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are feeling better. I hope the springtime brings you both "new beginnings" in health and life...
ReplyDeleteGlad Andy's surgery went well and very glad you are "on the mend."
ReplyDeleteJudy, I am so sorry for all of your problems. I am behind on reading blogs and didn't know what had been happening.
ReplyDeleteAl has been having diverticulitis attacks for a while now. He is finally learning to identify an attack before it gets too bad. He also had to go on antibiotics one time, but the last two episodes we resolved with our home remedy. I did some research online and one site suggested Aloe Vera and Papaya juice, and also drink plenty of clear liquids. The Aloe and Papaya helped him very quickly. We've come to think it was the Aloe more than the Papaya juice. I also read to take the herb, Slippery Elm.
He tries to take Aloe every day along with some Metamucil. Of course he eats no popcorn, or any seeds. We think his last bout may have been caused by oatmeal. We didn't realize there were kernels in the oatmeal much like popcorn.
Chicken noodle soup also seemed to help the discomfort.
I hope you are feeling better by now. It can be pretty serious. We're trying to prevent future attacks.
Glad you are feeling a little better, Judy!
ReplyDeleteYea!! But still get the CT scan...it can be very helpful..If only we had super powers and could see inside our bodies, avoiding all this XRay,CT,Ultrasound stuff...Keep us all "in the loop"..
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling a bit better and that you had your camera to help enjoy nature...always a fun thing. Take care and soon you will e 100%.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are both feeling better:) Camera work is definitely good for what ails you:)
ReplyDeleteOMG Judy, your health problems plus poor Andy! I hope he gets well soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the antibiotics might be helping. Very good the pain is subsiding!
I hear it is an awful, horrible pain from diverticulitus!! Rest up! Keeping out
fingers crossed for you!
Hopefully you will feel like your old self quickly. I am surprised that Andy just stayed in the hospital for one day. Sure is different now. At 19 years old I was in there for 2 weeks and had recuperation ordered for another 4 weeks!! It was not ruptured either. They sure kept you in Hospital long in those days. Had to stay in Hospital for 9 days after my first daughter was born. It was a perfectly normal birth ☺☺
ReplyDeleteI'm glad both you and Andy are on the mend. It is a good idea to get on the preventive side of diveriticulitis/diveritculosis. If you research it you will find there are some foods you just need to stay away from. I try hard to do that but once in awhile I give into some of those things but now that i know what was causing my pain I've been able to prevent those episodes. Its all about keeping things from getting caught in those little pouches in the intestines. Glad the antibiotic is doing its thing. We all worry about you, your blogger family really cares.
ReplyDeletewow..glad things are starting to get better for you both. Hang in there and hope tomorrow is even better!
ReplyDeleteGood grief! I miss a couple of posts and things are awful in your world! I'm so sorry you and your son are having health issues. As for his, thank goodness they got him in an did the appendectomy, and he's now okay - when I had my surgery in January they an appendectomy, too, just because they were in the area, so at his age, he should recover quickly. (I did, and I'm OLD.) As for you, I hope things improve quickly. What a bummer! I'm assuming your insurance will cover the test if you use an approved provider. Thank goodness for insurance - can you imagine paying those prices for tests?
DeleteTake care, rest up, and get well soon! :)
So sorry to hear about your bad day and Andy's. I sure hope that you are both feeling better now. I expect that you will be up and around quicker than Andy will.
ReplyDeleteTake care!

Woof. I'm glad to hear the acute phases of both your and Andy's illnesses are past. Those darned pesky intestines, anyway! Weird that your trouble was on the left (I'm assuming) and his on the right, in the same place.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read all this. I hope you and Andy are doing better.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever have this problem before? That can be nasty pain. But if you stay away from nuts and seeds it can stay at bay. Did you find at place for the ct? Best wishes and I will keep you in my thoughts.
Just getting caught up on reading blogs. Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly and glad to hear you are on the mend. Take care!
ReplyDeleteGet yourself better, girl! Lots of people thinking about you and sending you the very best wishes!
