Brake problem–day 8

As it neared 9:00 this morning with no tow truck arriving, I wandered into the Brown and Brown office to see what was up.  I was greeted with, “How are you today?”  I said, “nervous.”  I was told I needed to call the roadside assistance number again, and tell them who I wanted to tow me, and where I  wanted to go.  What??  Of course, the emergency roadside tech told me I couldn’t do that.  THEY would decide who would tow me, and where I would go.  Ack!!  They said they would call me back.  Yeah right!  A little before 11:00, the original tow company showed up.  Turns out Coach Net called them, and yes, I was still going to Austgen Fleet Service in Griffith, IN.  Don’t you think they could have called me back, and told me that?  However, I’m happy to report that this second tow job will be fully covered by my policy.  Phew!

Then there was the adventure of once again following the tow truck.  Austgen Fleet Service was about 45 miles away, and it took us over two hours to get there.  At one point, the tow truck and my rig stopped in the right hand lane of a busy four lane road and stopped.  I immediately put on my flasher lights.  After several minutes, he started driving again.  Turned out he was lost!  After another three or four miles going around in what seemed like circles, we finally arrived at our destination.  The result of all this is that I am so turned around that I don’t know where I am.

Of course, by the time we arrived, it was too late for them to look at my rig.  So, I’m in a new parking lot with no hookups until they can give the rig a look in the morning.  They do seem to know much more about the Workhorse chassis than B & B did.  I’ve got the generator running, but will have to wait until tomorrow for any more information.  It was about time I exercised the generator anyway.  Sarcastic smile

I think it’s time for a glass of wine…

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Sounds like it's time for a bottle, not a glass! LOL

  2. I sure hope they can fix it quickly. I agree that more than one glass is needed!

  3. Here's a toast to making more progress tomorrow. Cheers!!!!!!

  4. Progress! I think this is a glass 'half-full' of wine situation. Oh heck! Go ahead and fill the glass to the top and leave the bottle on the table. This can only get more interesting!

  5. This has become quite the saga hasn't it? I'm impressed with your patience and optimism. By all means have a glass of wine....or three!!

  6. My first thought before reading Sandra's comment was "A glass? Oh heck, go ahead and kill the whole bottle!" A single glass, or perhaps two, sounds definitely in order! Here's hoping you get things moving soon!

  8. You could drink a whole bottle and no one would look askance.

  9. I wouldn't even bother with a glass. Just drink it out of the bottle! (Can you set up a tripod and set the timer for a self-portrait?)

  10. You know, once you open a bottle of wine it won't keep! ;-)

  11. I agree this is definitely a double glass + night. Hope they can fix it right up tomorrow and they don't lolly gag around.

  12. Definitely a bottle of wine...possibly a bottle of some hard liquor...then 9 days will be 11 before you even know it and this saga will be over when you awaken from your stupor.

  13. You handle this so well. But how else can you. Doesn't do much good to be upset.

At this rate you will have to change the name of your blog to "Parking Lots witn Emma." :`)

  14. Oh Judy I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I sure hope you get to the conclusion of this monkey wrench! By the way, the park you checked out over the weekend looked fun. At least you got to unwind there for a bit. Don't worry I'll be back tomorrow to hear/read the latest news...LOL! Cheers! ~M

  15. Maybe it's time to start work on a book...'Garage's I Have Known.' Can't say I agree with everyone else's wine solutions but I guess we all deal with our nightmares in our own special ways. Hopefully Tuesday will bring some answers and solutions for you....

  16. Wine about now sounds great!

I was just wondering Judy my dear, if you bought your coach new.... since I've been reading your blog, it seems to me that you have had more than your fair share of issues with it. I know there is such a thing as the "lemon law" for coaches and if you did purchase it new, I'm wondering if that would apply. Just a thought...

Perhaps... tomorrow by say, 8:30 they will be all done and you will be getting directions to get the $=)& out of there heading south!!!

  18. I like Al's suggestion for a book. You've certainly been sitting in enough repair shops lately to make quite a large book. Here's hoping tomorrow is a much much better day.

  20. I know I don't need to tell you that I am right there with you and the wine...Take a big sip, a deep breath and repeat after me.."Life is good..I'm OK...That which does not kill me "...and you know the rest. Sounds like you and Emma are finally getting some action..Oh, make sure Emma gets a large bone or dog biscuit too!

  21. I have been sitting on the edge of my chair for the last couple of days, with the little boy inside of me that is the mechanic part just waiting to find out what is causing your grief,I'm afraid if you were here I would have been under it and going step by step until I found something. or else it would have been going to my buddy that works at the Frieghtliner dealer where they really know big trucks and stuff.I have a feeling it's going to be electronic related since I assume your brake system is an air brake one. and leaks are pretty easy to detect.Good Luck. Sam & Donna..

  24. I'm not a wine drinker. Cheetos on the other hand... You know how my story goes. :)

  25. Hope the brake problem gets settled soon and you can get back to a more normal life on the road. I think I might choose chocolate instead of wine...just saying.
Hopefully when all this is behind you, you will look back and realize how well you handled the situation. You either roll with the punches or you freak out inside, and I lean to the first option.
    Take care and good luck!!
