(All pics tonight are from Ocean City State Park in Washington…since I’ve felt there’s been a fungus among us, and I’ve been feeling rather sluggish :))
Last night, I told you that the crud had come back with a vengeance, and I was going to see a doctor today. E SQUARED and MUI left a comment along the lines that perhaps the threat of going to the DR would do the trick. Well, I looked up the nearest urgent care facility and typed the address into my GPS last night. Shortly afterward, the pain subsided; I could walk around upright; and I’ve been fine all day today. What’s up with that? Can it be that the threat worked? I don’t think so, but I didn’t feel I could see a doctor without any symptoms.
Most of you know that the weather is a more personal thing when you live in an RV. I think that’s why the weather is such a part of many RV blogs. The weather more directly effects our day to day life than in a sticks and bricks. I’ll tell you that I stayed inside all day today and hunkered down while the winds blew and the temps never got out of the 30’s. I didn’t want to over do things in hopes that this is a true recovery.
I can’t remember a time when I’ve done so little as I did today. Talk about being a slug! :) My local stations on the DISH come out of Chicago, so I spent the day listening to the live reports from the great blizzard of 2011. I was living there during the all time snowfall of 1967. I was a college student, and had an interview scheduled for a summer job. I walked miles through that snowfall to get to the interview since the streets were impassable. My brother, Carl, drove me as far as he could, and I walked the rest of the way. I was late for that interview, but got the job simply because I had persevered and arrived!
My sister, Pam, who lives in the suburbs up there emailed me today, and commented that because of the forewarning they had about this storm, things were not at all as devastating as they were in 1967. Amazing the advances that have been made in dealing with Mother Nature in the last forty some years. I still would not want to be dealing with all that shoveling, however. :)
Thanks for stopping by…. talk to you later, Judy
Hi there, Judy. I've been away a bit and have a gazillion posts to try to catch up on, but am so glad to see you here, doing better. By the way, I'm not sure about this, but your blog looks really bright and shiny. I LOVED the photos of the cypress swamp. amazing world
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of slugs .... ugh.I really hate those things! The first college I attended had the Slugs as their mascot!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're warm in your abode, but I have to chuckle at your 30° shivers! It's all relative, though, isn't it? Stay tucked in!
Not shoveling snow is a real plus to RVing in the south this time of year! I know my boys in Iowa are all snowed in today.
ReplyDeleteAnytime you can avoid a visit to the Doctor is a good day. Hope you continue to feel better!
ReplyDeleteEven if you wanted to visit the doctor, it's frustrating to go when the main symptoms are gone. You can always still go if your symptoms come back, which I hope they don't.
ReplyDeleteI liked your pictures today! We saw fungus when we were Ocean City State Park in November, but it wasn't brightly colored like in your pictures.
A sluggish day is good for us all once in a while--cures what ails us, maybe? :)
Awww shucks, being a slug some days ain't so bad. Did you know Babe Ruth was known as a SLUGger. I remember a band about thirty years ago called Doug & the Slugs & did you know a baseball bat manufacturer has made a lot of money off their best known bat...a Louiseville SLUGger. VW's have been called Slug Bugs & John L. Sullivan had quite a reputation for a being a SLUGger in the boxing ring & oh by the way.....glad your feeling better, Slugger:))
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you are better, whether due to the threat of seeing a doctor, or not.
ReplyDeleteMy blizzard memories are of Cincinnati in 1976 - we didn't get many true blizzards there - but some years had sub-zero temps or heavy snowfalls. In 1976 I walked half way across the Ohio River - didn't go all the way because I had 3 little kidswith me, and the ice became really choppy in the middle of the river. I have fond memories of dressing everyone up warm and snug, and going out in it.
Blizzards and snow were just a part of growing up in MT but there's no way I'd ever want to do that again. I hibernated today - it got into the 40's here but the wind was just blowing so hard the wind chill had to be a lot less. Hopefully by this week-end we'll see a break in this horrible weather all over the country.
ReplyDeleteSure hope you're still feeling good in the morning.
Good news that you were feeling better and didn't have to make the trip to the UC. Hope you continue to mend and are back to your old self soon.
ReplyDeletenice mushroom pictures..the slugs?..ewwww
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we had a cabin in the foothils of Mt. Hood, and friends had a cabin at Cannon Beach, Oregon. Lots of those slugs at both places. Cruel as kids can be, we'd get a salt shaker and salt their backs, just to watch them writhe. Seldom think to take pictures of slugs, but I do have a great picture of a Giant Mesquite Bug. I'll post that (again) some day.
ReplyDeleteBoy, being doubled over in pain is no fun! I've had 5 kidney stones, and that was NOT good. Keep thinking good thoughts and lay low one more day....We are laying low here due to the -10 temps and 2 foot drifts..YUCK!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that you're feeling better :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better. Not to scare you, but I had a bout of that last spring, and it was about a month before I got completly over it. I don't think there is anything wrong with a sluggish-day. Our water froze in the ground this time and Donnie has been working on it all morning. Texas is just not protected for this type of situation, so they leave their water pipes above ground. That doesn't work in below freezing weather. Stay warm.
ReplyDeletelove the slug photo's ~ we took one in to play with in the sink when we visited WA the first time! Jasper thought it quite lickable...
ReplyDeletethe words "doubled over" caught my attention ~ do you still have your gallbladder? jus wonderin' ; right side ya know... same as appendix if it's still there too!
I thought about gallbladder too ... Jessica's burst appendix last fall is also something to think about. Flu doesn't come and go. I hope it stays gone, but if not, get to that clinic!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you're feeling better today! Slugs . . . I got on a snail photo shoot when I first got my present camera. We were in Corinth, MS on Saturday . . . Home of the Slugburger. Whatever that is! Take it easy for a few days, okay?
ReplyDeleteJudy - sorry you are not feeling better. Hope the rest and down time works so you can get back to normal. It was great meeting you and spending a few moments with you. We leave the area today and hope our paths cross again!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have talent!
ReplyDeleteYup.. some days ya just gotta be a slug!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is my Slug Day! The kids come back from Cancun, they get their baby back, they get their dogs back, they get their snowshoveling back, and we are just gonna be slugs and watch us some football!
GO PACK!
