One of those days

This was one of those stone days, as opposed to diamonds, but it ended nicely.  Emma woke me up several times last night with her barking.  She never barks at night.  I couldn’t find anything wrong, but it resulted in a poor night’s sleep.  Maybe she heard some cows in the surrounding fields.  Who knows?

There was a volunteer meeting this morning, and Stephanie asked how I was doing on the educational stuff.  Well, I haven’t done a thing about that.  I hate that office type work, but it looks like I’ll have to get busy with that in the next week.  :(

Then this afternoon, Emma and I took a drive to try to get some good pictures.  In my mind’s eye, I had some fantastic shots of a ruby-crowned kinglet, a vermillion flycatcher, and a yellow-rumped warbler.  When I got home to edit the pictures, they were all awful.  Not even one was worth saving.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve totally bombed out on a photo trip.  It was just one of those days.

IMG_8195As the sun began to set, I put on my hooded sweatshirt (to ward off the mosquitoes) and stepped outside.

IMG_8191There was a marvelous sunset tonight.  It kind of put things into perspective.  If this is a stone day for me, my life is really mostly diamonds.  :)  In the great scheme of things, today was just a tiny pebble in the road of life.  I know that, and I’m thankful.

Thanks for stopping by…. talk to you later,  Judy

  4. Lovely sunsets! I like rating days as stones or diamonds. I'm going to adopt that, if you don't mind. Wait till you're in the office - that's going to be a stone day for sure. But it seems you are living diamond days most of the time.

  5. A sunset like that, especially being able to capture it would certainly help to put things in perspective!

    Happy Trails, forever!

  6. Sure glad you were able to step outside and "ward off the mosquitoes" to see the real day.

  7. I'm a sky person myself! A beautiful sunset is always a treasure.

We used to be able to see more of the sky from our living room but the neighbors trees have grown up over the years.

    Another reason to move on!

  8. Doesn't that sunset just give you such hope that the next sunrise will be just as beautiful? Our sunset tonight was also incredible. So does a stone day that ends up with a diamond become a pearl day?

  9. The other day I was busy snapping shots of a sweet Scaup couple only to discover when I downloaded them I had accidently changed the setting on my camera and all very over exposed.
Love the sunsets, it's far to cloudy and rainy here to see any type of sun!

  14. Yep, I know what them there stone days are like alright. A nice sunset is always a fine fitting way to wrestle a stone day up from the depths & put a rosy red glow on it at the end of the day:))

  17. Promise me that you do not go out to check on whatever Emma is barking at in the dark!!! Let her do her work, your job is to stay put, unless you have started packing. . . . .

  18. The other song about your days would be "Sometimes you're the windshiled, sometimes you're the bug!" You read about our "stone day" in last night's post -- today will be a diamond!

  21. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight..." Beautiful!

So glad you have Miss Emma... she may have "earned her keep" by barking all night... If there was some jerk out there up to no good, a barking dog inside your rig - ready to take care of business - is a great deterrent!... And you just NEVER know when those cows are going to get rowdy and out-of-control... :-) Way to go, Emma the Wonder Dog!!

  22. Rats, Kerri stole my criminal cow line, but still it is good to have a barking dog sometimes.

You have proved again, that a bad day RVing is better than the best day at work.

  23. We were bummed to hear that you will be moving to Mississipi soon. We had planned on stopping to see you as we leave Texas in March, but I guess we will just have to catch up with you somewhere else! Who knows - - maybe Mississippi! Love the sunset pix. Ann
