Peaks and valleys

Well I can tell you that I was flying quite high last night after all the good news of the day.  And I even got an email from Karen and Al with pictures from Google Earth of site 228 at Jojoba Hills.  That was so nice of Karen to do that for me.

For Judy (1)

Site 228 is just to the left of center in this photo.  It’s the one with the reddish brown rectangle.  The site is up on a hill and overlooks two ponds below.  With the park map I have, I thought it was a back in site, but with this view it looks like a pull through to me.  I remember walking the road along the ponds with Emma every day I was there, and thinking the sites up above must have quite a nice view.  I’ll see when I get there.

Sue and Mo finally made it to Harris Beach last night after their trauma of the blowout and having to be towed to Brookings.  I was able to visit with Sue briefly, but they were pretty worn out from the ordeal.  I should have guessed that this was a downward trend from the peak of my excitement.

This morning I began work on the 12 pages of documents I had been emailed from Jojoba to finalize the agreement of the lease.  Those signed documents, and a couple of checks, have to be in their hands from me by Sunday or I lose the spot.  First problem was that I don’t have a printer, so couldn’t print off the papers to sign.  Second problem was getting my financial planner to transfer enough funds to my checking account so I could write the checks.

I got the financial planner working on the transfer of funds first, and then this morning I headed to town to find a place that could print the documents.  I had noticed that there was a place in town that said they did copying, but do you think I could find it today?  Nope.  Just by chance I saw a little sign that said Harbor Copy and Sewing along the side of the road.  I followed the directions to find a fountain in a small mall, and sure enough there it was.  An elderly couple runs a little shop that does copying, and the wife also does sewing.  What a combination!  I love it when I stumble upon these unusual places.  Not sure what hubby does, as the wife does all the sewing and did the printing for me off of a thumb drive that I brought along.  Mission accomplished for two copies of everything for $2.40!  We had a nice chat while I was there, and I think I’m going to have her recover my memory foam pad that I sit on to see out the window when I’m driving the rig.  She did make the remark that I was rather short.  Humph!

I also had an email from Sue this morning that she had become ill overnight, but was hoping to recover by the afternoon.  The plan was for me to make a NY BBQ dinner for her and Mo this evening.  Her plans to recover didn’t happen, so we’re postponing it a day.  Bummer.

Then this evening, I went out to dump the tanks.  Continuing the trend toward the valley of yesterday’s peak, the brand new Rhino Flex hose that I had installed last week came apart shortly after I pulled the black tank handle,  Surprised smileSmile with tongue outCrying face , and spewed its contents all over my legs and feet!  Oh s**t! (pun intended)

I think most RVers have a black tank ugly story to relate, but at least this time I just pushed the lever in instead of trying to reconnect the hose.  (yes, I’ve made that mistake before as well)  What a stinking mess!  I used the outside sprayer to clean up myself and the area as well as I could, but Emma sure came to attention as I made my way back into the rig after leaving my shoes outside.  I’m not sure the valley can get much lower tonight…

So, I leave you tonight with the washing machine going blue blazes and hope that tomorrow I can rise to another peak.

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Crikey Judy ...... from the highs of yesterday to being in deep S**T today!! That could not have been very pleasant. Poor Emma ..... bet she wondered what she missed out on. I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day. I hope Sue's ok and you get to have that NY BBQ dinner. I LOVE BBQ's. I bet Emma does too.

  3. Good Luck with the getting that site you want. That will be great.
And yes I have a nasty story about blank tank filth. Just missed getting right in the face.

  4. Life sure has a (stinky) way of knocking you down from your high! Thank goodness you caught it right away instead of freezing for a few seconds. That would have been worse... :cO

I like your new acquisition, from the Google view, it looks like it's just perfect. And no back in, either. Congrats! :c)

  5. Seems like nothing is ever easy.... but just think of how happy you'll be when it's all done. And, hey.... you have an interesting story to tell (it will probably be funny later....)

  6. I think the whole issue with the tanks was the thing I hated most about RVing, and would never get another RV.

    1. That is my main complaint about RVs, the disgusting sewer systems!! So that is why I have a Bio-Gel toilet in mine now. No sewer hoses or tanks to mess with. Happy Trails, Penny.

  7. No matter how careful you are there is bound to be a holding tank issue sometime in you Rv Lifetstyle, but at least we can wash off.
Looks like a new home base.

  8. Yep, know all about those hills & valleys alright. I think that is great about you getting a place at Jojoba. We have heard good things about that place; Always nice to have good things to look forward too.

  9. Well despite the lows, you ended up with some pretty good highs. After all you just got a beautiful home base! We have never had a black tank issue, but I think i need to remind Al that we're overdue and to be very very careful. :) We use Rhino hoses too, but so far so good.

You do know that you will be needing a golf cart, don't you? I know, I know...you're saying you don't need one...but I'll bet you'll end up getting one.

Is that reddish thing a building of some sort? Carport type or cabin/casita? Can't anyone there send you some pictures? I'm anxious to see some, so I imagine you are too.

  11. Sorry your day was stinky - but I am still very excited about your new HOME base ! Like you said, your goal was to just get into the game at Jojoba Hills and you have done that !! Many people wait years on that list. You are so lucky to be financially and emotionally able to make a commitment and follow your dreams. You will always have the opportunity to put your lot in the rental pool when you travel - and even though every location is unique and awesome you can always trade lots - kind of like baseball cards. At least now you are in the Game !! Congratulations !

  12. Amazing how some days can go downhill so fast. But today will look so much better and you can get back to enjoying your new home base. And if you hadn't needed copies you would never have found that neat little shop. A definite plus in a lousy day.

  13. Congratulations on getting a lot in Jojoba! That was pretty quick. Hope today is better!

  14. That's the trouble with peaks - they are all separated by valleys. But much more exciting than the flats. Hang on and climb hard.

  15. The stink will wash off but you're going to love your new lot. Hope tomorrow is an up day.

  16. Yep, we all have a black tank story to tell. Sorry this happened to you. Our event resulted in new shoes for the husband, his went straight to the dumpster! Congratulations on #228!

  17. I totally agree with Marilyn. Better than flat but oh dear poor you and poor Sue. I hope you both recover by tomorrow.
I'd always heard that Rhino hoses were the best. We use them and in 5 years have never had a problem. I've just jinxed us I know. A brand new one breaking certainly doesn't give one much confidence.
Sure would like to be helping to eat that BBQ. Give Mo and Sue a hug for me. Can't wait to see how the canines enjoy each other.

  18. I guess most of us have had a dump failure:) I wonder why it is always a bit amusing when it happens except when it happens to you? I know every time I watch that scene in the RV movie, I cannot help but laugh!

  19. Oh geez. Pooh ain't fun. Do you have a washer in your rig? I noticed they removed them from the park here. Bummer. They were handy and cheap. Glad you found a copier to print for you. You were down by our favorite fish and chips stop at the harbor. Since I didn't eat anything yesterday, I am doubly excited about NY chicken tonight!

  20. I have only purchased Rhino one time and I had the same lovely experience. I went back to the cheaper campco ones.

  21. Well Pooh! Life though is about solving the dilemmas that present themselves and it seemed you managed well. Hoping tomorrow will be a better one!

  23. Awww Judy! A little..well...you know...can't dampen the fact that you've found a place to land that you will love, and that you're on the beautiful Oregon coast for the summer! Bummer though.

  24. You surely have a strange way to celebrate! Just kiddin....

  25. I'd happily have your highs and lows. The lows are done, and lovely #228 will be there for you from now on. Yes, we all have a dump story to tell. I even felt a couple of drops fly out and hit my face. After securing everything, I ran inside and scrubbed my whole face over and over with baby wipes. Then soap and water. Then I walked back outside like nothing was wrong and finished the job. (Hoping no one if the RV park saw what happened. I was mortified! LOL)
