During January, I had the opportunity to meet up with some fellow RV bloggers. First there was NICKIE and Jim, and then there was JERRY and Wanda. As many of you know, getting to meet other bloggers is a real hoot. It’s like running into old friends.
I took a look at my calendar for February, and it’s beginning to fill up with other visiting friends. I haven’t got all of the dates even filled in yet. My friend Jack will be arriving next Monday, and then PHYLLIS and Leonard may be arriving with others from their NOMAD group next Friday. The following week, I’m hoping to visit again with NICKIE and Jim in Mobile (not penciled in yet). Then on the 18th, my daughter Robyn and granddaughter Avery fly in from Chicago for a three day visit. After dropping them at the airport in Biloxi, I’ll meet up with Colin and his wife, Denise, for a birding day. Colin is my friend and fellow volunteer from Anahuac NWR, and they are from England. During the last week of February, Peggy and Paul, fellow volunteers I’ve worked with at Balcones Canyonlands NWR in Texas, will pull in for the night on their way to Florida. Phew! This is going to be a busy month crammed in around my volunteering duties. I’m betting I’ll set a personal record for eating out. I generally seldom eat out, but with so many visitors, I’m sure I’ll be introducing them to The Shed, and Huck’s, and maybe a few other places.
The Dee’s Nature Trail outside the visitor’s center winds for about 3/4 of a mile through the wet pine savannah and along the Bayou Castille. Along the way are four benches for hikers to rest if they wish. It’s not an arduous hike, but there are two spots that Emma and I always stop at.
It’s hard to see in this photo, but the bayou winds its way north in front of us. It’s just so peaceful to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. It’s never crowded on the trail, and Emma and I walk it almost daily. It provides her with plenty of olfactory stimulation, and gives me peace of mind just a short distance outside my door.
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Being busy will make the time fly even faster. It's nice that Robyn and Avery are flying in to see you...enjoy all your visits!
ReplyDeleteohhhh, if we ever get done here, we have decided that it will be too late to head to the southwest, so we are heading south! Just might get to meet you....would love that.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't going to have time for work! It is so nice to meet others in the RVing and blogging world.

ReplyDeleteThere was a big article in the San Jose Mercury news today about Sandhill cranes. Seems their population is starting to slowly recover a bit in .c
ReplyDeleteCalifornia.
(using the iPad makes comments difficult). to continue, the article said that during the gold rush, Sandhill cranes were hunted and sold like turkeys in the meat markets of San Francisco ,!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to set and think a spell.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really full calendar. You'll be more like a busy bee than a butterfly. Enjoy it all!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your visitors.
ReplyDeleteYou sure will be busy. And yes it is fun to meet other bloggers. I will be meeting one on the 15th when I hit Tombstone Territories. Enjoy your visitors
ReplyDeleteBeing a social butterfly is just fine, but don't turn into a bird brain. Oh, that's right, you've already proved that you are a brain with birds. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're going to need a social secretary if this keeps up!! Enjoy your visits.
ReplyDeleteWhen Len & Phyllis visit say hi and give them a hug from us, they stayed at the Ranch last year and we had a ball, plus babysat Lucky their cat. Have a great week. and watch out for low leaping kangeroo's. Sam & Donna...
ReplyDeleteFor sure we will be there on Friday. Will let you know how many others.
ReplyDeleteSocial Butterfly?? Is that one I missed?? No, you are more like a Wildlife Magnet, drawing people closer to learn from your vast wealth of knowledge about the NWR's...I know about wild life too...but it's just not the same kind..:-P...Enjoy the company..I have no doubt they will enjoy meeting you...and..hugs to your granddaughter..I sure miss our grands.
ReplyDeleteI bet at one time you worried you'd be bored living in an RV.
ReplyDeleteYou are just such a popular gal! If we were in the area we'd look you up too but not headed that direction. Enjoy all your company!
ReplyDeleteWhew your schedule wore me out just reading your post!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun & Travel safe
Donna
For you it should be 'birds of a feather' rather than 'social butterfly'!
ReplyDeletewow...party time! Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Mobile . . .you should try Wentzel's Oyster House while you're over there. It's one of those hole in the wall places with a lot of sayings on the wall, weird paintings and such. Their motto is "Oysters . . .fried, stewed, or nude."
