Another day at the rig

I had planned to go visit a park along the shore of Lake Michigan today that promised a fantastic view of the Chicago skyline, but when I awoke, it was foggy outside.  The dreariness lasted throughout the morning meaning that pictures of the skyline with the sun at my back weren’t happening today.  So much for that idea.  Instead, I spent another day at the rig.

IMG_3045The moisture hung heavy on everything.  A pretty boring day, I must admit.  I did notice that my son had posted a comment on the blog.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas about the map. My mom can add the dates and times to the locations if she would like to. That is something I could show her. I agree that the map might be something you may look at one time and then you are done. I know many of you travel around like my mom and when I added each site I tried to add them with phone numbers and addresses in the event that someone might need that info. If you don't have Google Earth I suggest it as a piece of software to get. I found myself spending an hour using it the other day with out realizing it. The earth isn't just what Google Earth has to offer. You can look at Mars and the moon, the later is where I spent my time the other day. I watched the video of the two astronauts putting the flag up on the moon. Yes Paul and Marti Dahl, I am for rent. danielsbell@gmail.com

I’ve decided to include it in tonight’s post since, if you’re like me, I very seldom return to posts to read the further comments.  We both appreciated your comments on the new map.  The last part of his comment brought back memories to me of watching that historic landing on the moon in the summer of 1969.  I was finishing my last course at Illinois State University.  I can remember exactly where I was when all of us watched this historic moment in history.  “One small step for man…”

As I took one very small step out of the rig late this afternoon to take the garbage to the dumpster, I found something just bursting forth from the oak leaf clutter next to the car.

I wonder what kind of shroom this is going to turn out to be.  It’s about 5” tall so far, and I’ll be checking to see what happens next.  All of those apparent layers are very intriguing.  I’ll keep you posted.

I spent part of this evening watching the movie “Rudy”.  If you haven’t seen it (it’s old), it’s a great feel good movie about overcoming great odds.  I recommend it.  I’m going to give the park on Lake Michigan another try tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Our weather has turned hot again out here. And that means thunderstorms every evening. Tonight we had winds of 60 mph. Not sure which I hate more - the weather we're having or the rainy, dreary day you had. Very interesting sroom.

  3. Sounds like cabin fever to me. We can understand the feeling. We have been inside all day in rain. Poor Halley had to suck it up and do her duty in the rain. Now there is one unhappy camper:)
