Challenge #1. After publishing my blog post last night about all the pictures I had that could be used as screen savers, I decided to select one picture for my desktop background. I picked the shot that is the present header for the blog. Here’s the problem: the picture gets blown up so big that only a small portion of it shows as the background. I never had that problem with my old camera, but it happens every time now with the shots taken with the new camera. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe one of you that knows about pixels, etc. can give me a clue as to how I can fit the picture to match my screen. I’d really appreciate it. :)
Challenge #2. After all that driving yesterday, I decided to stay in camp today and do a few chores. Among them was doing a couple of loads of laundry in the Splendide. Everything went well with the first load. When I put in the second load, on perma press, it wouldn’t even start. Aside from that, as I went to wash my hands in the bathroom sink, no water came out on the hot water side. I checked the kitchen sink, and no hot water came out there either. To make a long story short, cold water works fine, but not a drop comes out if I use the hot water handle. I am on full hookups here and everything worked fine up until this point. Has anyone had this happen to them? Please help me if you have any ideas. I’ve put the problem out on the Escapees forum as well. I guess I’ll heat some water in a pot to wash up and brush my teeth tonight. :( The water here comes out of the tap at 40*. Brrr!
I guess I’ll pretend I’m tent camping until the water issue gets resolved. :)
When I arrived here, I was told that I had the best view of the wonderful sunsets. So far, this has been the best sunset. Not exactly what I’d consider spectacular.
Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later, Judy

Judy - Sorry to hear of your troubles! We might be able to help with your screen saver pics...we'll stop by tomorrow and see. As far as your hot water woes, it sounds like you've either lost a check valve or a heating element on your water heater. Let's hope it's a check valve! Do you have no heat on electric AND gas? Might be time for a service call. We'll stop by in the AM! Take care!
ReplyDeleteHave you checked your water heater switch? Maybe it got bumped or something? Or maybe the breaker for it? This is where the hubster comes in handy and why I admire you so much for being out there with yourself and Emma!! Does she have any ideas?
ReplyDeletepixels ~ I got no help! sorry..... hopefully someone will come along after me.....
I'm sorry Judy, I don't have any help with your 2 challenges today....but I did want to say how absolutely beautiful your pics were from yesterday. Those shots of the lakes were to die for!
ReplyDeleteHowdy mom. Check your camera to see what it is saving the picture as. My guess is that it is saving as .bmp. You might want to try .jpg
ReplyDeleteJudy, I'm going to assume your operating system is either Windows Vista or XP. If so, here's how I think you can fix your background picture problems:
ReplyDelete1. Open Desktop Background by clicking Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization and then Desktop Background.
2. Click on the desktop tab and make sure your picture is selected.
3. On the right hand side under "Position" click on the down arrow and select the "Stretch" option
4. Click "Apply" and that should do it!
Good luck!
Check and see if somehow the water heater bypass valve got closed, that would be the first place to look, if that's not it see if a neighbor camper can see if you have a check valve near the weater heater hot water line, it might be stuck. hope you can get it resolved quick, as hot showers are nice conveniance. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can think of is somehow something happened to your hot water feed from the hot water tank.
ReplyDeleteThere are a series of valves for winterizing by the tank. Perhaps you bumped a valve shut with something set down near it? Like a laundry soap bottle under the sink? Most of those shut off valves are simple 90 degree twist levers, not a full turn handle of 2-3 rotations to open or shut like a regular faucet.
Or perhaps something clogging the line from the hot water heater tank itself? Buildup of scale or lime inside the hot water heater? Perhaps you could turn off the unit, let it cool, then drain all the water from it via the outside plug? They make a skinny wand that screws onto a garden hose to stick in there and use a high pressure spray to squirt around in the hot water tank?
Just thinking...
