Prepping for take off

I don’t leave for my cruising adventure until Wednesday, but the prep work started today.  I took Emma to the kennel she’ll be staying at for three weeks.  I think she was a little intimidated by all the German shepherds that were around!  I don’t know if all their barking was a welcome or not.  I’ve never left her for that amount of time, so things could be interesting when I pick her up.  :(

Then it was on to Kohl's to get a couple of new pairs of slacks.  From there I went to Wal-mart and ran into my first issue of the day.  My debit card was refused three times!  Okay, so after I paid the bill by other means, I headed for the Wells Fargo Bank across the street.  I wanted to find out what was up with the refusal, and to let them know I could possibly be using the card out of the country for the next few weeks.  Turns out the fraud/theft department put a stop on my card.  I’ve traveled this country for 4 1/2 years and never had my card refused!  They finally decided I was making some suspicious purchases, so put a stop on it.  Is it because I finally bought some new clothes?  :)  Anyway, I was able to get things straightened out and let them know about my upcoming travels so it wouldn’t happen again while I’m on the cruise.

As I went through my purchases back at the rig (including a new suitcase) I decided to open the new packages of underwear that I had bought.  What was I thinking?  I guess I misread the label that said ‘Just My Size.’  I ended up with 16 pairs of briefs that are big enough to fit three of me inside of them!!   At that point, I just had to sit down and laugh.  I guess I’ll be making a trip into Beaumont tomorrow to exchange them for something a bit smaller.  :)

I talked to my sister tonight, and we are both scurrying around trying to figure out what to pack to take with us.  Neither of us have ever been on a cruise.  I just can’t wait to see what mishaps the two of us will get into.  :)

Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Take a deep breath. All will be fine when you are on that cruise ship out on the deck sipping one of those umbrella drinks. :-)

    Have fun!

  3. Hey now! My dogs know exactly when I am due home, and become anxious if I don't arrive at my "alloted" time.

Have fun on the cruise! I'm sure Emma will pick up all sorts of interesting new habits at the kennel. :P

  4. I would say go aunaturale, but that wouldn't be appropriate for a blog, so I guess I won't...

Oh, and btw... I read in the news that Walmart is putting trackers in the underwear they sell. So now they will not only know what size everyone is, but also where everyone goes and what they're doing. Just sayin...

    Have fun!

  5. Don't believe the "just my size" stuff. It's a good thing you let the bank know you will be out of the country using your card. Did you ever figure out what suspicious purchases you made? Other than Big Mama Underpants!

  6. First cruise - how exciting! Been on 15 of them and loved all of them. Here's a couple of my cruise tips. 1) When you get off the ship there will be hundreds/thousands of suitcases - put something bright on yours to help you spot it quickly. 2) Pack a big insulated jug - fill it up with free ice, water or juice as you leave breakfast - saves money - those umbrella drinks are expensive if you stay at the pool very long. 3) Be sure to book tours ASAP - some of them fill up (or book your own - not with the cruise ship - maybe less expensive). 4) Spend some time at the start of the cruise just learning your way around the ship - especially to places you know you will want to be (dining room, pool, etc.) - otherwise you may end up wasting time wondering around like a lost tourist trying to find your way to dinner.

    5) Relax and have a wonderful time.

  7. Oops - that was supposed to be wandering, not wondering.

  9. I've heard that dogs don't really have a sense of time. One day, three weeks, sam to them.

She will be so glad to see you. Completely forgetting you left her there!

Have a good time, Emma will be safe and cared for.

  10. Cracked me up with the big mama panties. I think Just My Size is for larger women - definitely not you. I figure Emma will be so excited to see you and then she won't talk to you for a week.

  11. We had that debit card issue a few years ago and finally got them to understand that we move-all the time. Good news is that there have been no more problems. Hope that this will be the case for you.

Have lots of fun on the cruise.

  12. Maybe you should hang on to that large underwear because from what I hear, folks tend to eat a lot on these cruises!!!!!!!!

  13. We had a similar problem with a credit card being denied because of suspected fraudulent use. I think it's a good thing, though because we did actually have two credit cards used fraudulently online and both times our credit card companies picked up on it and called us right away. I've heard you should always let them know if you are leaving the country.

Have a great time on the cruise. We've been on a few and just loved it. You can certainly be assured you won't go hungry!

  16. Leave something with Emma that has your scent on it, like a sock that hasn't been washed.

They always say when packing, take less stuff and more money!

  17. I had the same thing happen recently with my WF card, same reason and all. We've used our cards all over the country for 4 years, took them awhile to decide that's suspicious, I guess!

  18. Have a fabulous time Judy. I have been wanting to go on a cruise for many years but , JB won't go. We left our Meggie for six months at a time while we traveled south for the winter and she was fine. This year we are taking her with us. She is 8 years old and has only lived on our Ranch so it will be a very interesting journey for her. lol. Again have a great time and I can't wait to here about your adventure.

  19. Hope this turns out to be a trip for a life time. It will be fun just hangin with your sis. Emma will forget and forgive, this is your time, so get out there and enjoy, but don't forget about us. We want lots of pictures.

  20. Hey Big Mamma! Have a great time on the cruise! Emma will be tickled to see you. When I left Baby for 3 months in MN, she "played" with sled dogs and knocked me down in the snow when I picked her up! (Yes, we're back in the world - just got the satellite up and running!)

  21. Have fun on your cruise. We have not been though that is one of our dreams.

We let our cc company know when we will be traveling. It just helps in the long run.

  22. I thought the comment about hanging onto the large underwear because of the food on the ship, was hysterical. Whenever I've heard about cruises, food is the most talked about. Have a wonderful time. Yes, take lots of pictures.

  24. The Just My Size story is funny although I'm sure you don't think so when your trying to get ready.

We had our debt card denied the first time we traveled to AZ because we were out of our normal travel area.

Have a great time on the cruise and look forward to hearing about it and seeing all the pictures when you return.

Emma will be well taken of but will be so happy to see you when you return.
