Time marches on

IMG_6224

My oldest, Daniel, and his dog, Buddy.

Forty years ago today, I welcomed my first bundle of joy into this world.  It was a struggle getting him birthed for a tax deduction as 1972 drew to a close, but I got it done.  Confused smile  At that time, they kept new mothers and their babies in the hospital for several days, and I even had a dinner with Champagne on New Year’s Eve that year.

Where in the world does the time go?  I can’t believe that I have a child that is 40 years old.  Seems that it confirms that I really am an old fart.  Surprised smile  How did that happen??  I need a few minutes to recuperate from that realization…

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  2. If it makes you feel any better, there are plenty of us out here that can identify and commiserate with you :) Mine are 38 and 36 and I have no idea how that happened!!!

  3. And a fine looking fella he is too! My daughter is 32 and that's about how old I feel. I try not to look in the mirror.

  4. Now that is a fine looking child. But my third one is the same age as he is. So I will be looking for a nice rocker soon and shawl.

  7. My son is only 26 so I must really be a young'un. (Yeah right) Not when you start at an "older" age. But this will make you feel better - Jim's oldest is going to be 50 in June. So you aren't as old a fart as he is.

  8. My oldest is also Daniel... he turned 50 years old this year. I feel very much like you do.. where in the heck did the time go???? Give Daniel best wishes and happy thoughts on his birthday. If he's like my Daniel, he'll probably call you and thank you for having him all those years ago. Hey... hope you set a new record and maybe even see a rare bird on your CBC tomorrow!

  15. The last time I visited my Mom she told me, "When your kids start getting gray hair, you are not a spring chick anymore."

Happens to the best of us! :)

Wishing you the very best for a successful surgery and quick recovery. Happy new year!

  16. Guess I'm an old fart too!! I have a daughter who's 41 and a son who's 37. The son definitely has gray in his beard and a shiny dome on top. Sometimes I don't feel a day over 30 and others it's closer to 80. Such is life, I guess.

  17. Fine looking young man Judy. Sure wish I knew where the time has gone, not having that much FUN? Our daughter will turn 49 soon. Best wishes for a successful surgery & speedy recovery. Have a great day tomorrow. Hope you count lots of birds! Tom & Lynn

  20. I know a young lady of 87 that just a few years ago was still taking her mother out to lunch. So you may have quite a bit of time to go:)

  21. Awww -- it's just a number. Anyone with your amount of energy and spirit is definitely not an old fart. Happy birthday to Daniel!

  22. Not so much of the old fart. I have reversed and am now 37 although my children range from 37 to 48 and the men have grey beards. Me .... not a speck of grey just pretty colours.

Thinking of you as you count down to Monday. Oops! perhaps I wasn't meant to remind you in the middle of happy birthday memories.

    Blessings

  31. My 12-year-old granddaughters are visiting this week. I notice they are growing hips and little buds on their chests. I could be a great grandma in just a few years. IMPOSSIBLE!

  32. I know the feeling - my oldest is 41, and the youngest is 35. I can go back in time though just watching their kids.
