Gymnastics 101

So, I was off early this morning to attend Avery’s end of the year gymnastics performance.  This is the only time spectators are allowed.  Sorry to say, there was not very good lighting inside, and I struggled to get any acceptable pictures.

Because the participants are so young, a parent accompanies them through their workout.  Robyn and Avery began by stretching out.

62 Pioneer Campground, IN summer, 20111

Avery’s group was all girls, and it took them about 45 minutes to go through all of the routines.  Sometimes the students cooperated, and sometimes they didn’t.  Smile  I was impressed with her walking on the balance beam, but she refused to do the flip on the bar.  She also wasn’t crazy about the somersault.  Bouncing seemed to be her favorite thing.

Seeing as it was their last day of the season, each student received a trophy at the end of class.  I think she’s relieved to be done!

After returning to the house, Robyn got a call from her Life Vest job for a fitting right in Dyer.  I watched the two girls while she went to take care of business.  (Life Vest is a cardiac support device that doctors recommend for some heart patients)  While she was gone, we read books, and watched some Sesame Street.  Phoebe is a real mama’s girl, but she’s become used to me enough that we got along just fine.  She actually spent most of the time sitting in my lap.  It’s been a long time since I’ve had a 22 month old share my lap for the afternoon.  Sweet!

I’m hoping their whole family will be joining me for a cookout at the campground tomorrow for lunch.  The weather is predicted to be gorgeous for a change.

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  2. So cute. Our granddaughter is older and loves gymnastics. She's always sad when it's over. It would be fun to have a little one on my lap. Have a great cookout. Good weather - YEA

and I agree, as I think I mentioned before... about the new header!

  9. I disagree about the new header...I find Killdeer to be one of the most fascinating birds with their broken wing act and all. But change is always good ;-)

  10. I'm adding my "So Cute!" to the rest. A cute little outfit, too.

My granddaughter wouldn't do the flip the first time around, either. It must be scarey for them. The next class she did it, and was very proud of herself. Your little one looks very happy with her trophy. I'm glad you were there to experience this.

  19. Balance beams are ok as long as they're on the floor. Whenever I see a gymnast working out on one I spend my time holding my breath, especially if they're doing flips. Might that be in her future???
