So, I was off early this morning to attend Avery’s end of the year gymnastics performance. This is the only time spectators are allowed. Sorry to say, there was not very good lighting inside, and I struggled to get any acceptable pictures.
Because the participants are so young, a parent accompanies them through their workout. Robyn and Avery began by stretching out.
Avery’s group was all girls, and it took them about 45 minutes to go through all of the routines. Sometimes the students cooperated, and sometimes they didn’t. I was impressed with her walking on the balance beam, but she refused to do the flip on the bar. She also wasn’t crazy about the somersault. Bouncing seemed to be her favorite thing.
Seeing as it was their last day of the season, each student received a trophy at the end of class. I think she’s relieved to be done!
After returning to the house, Robyn got a call from her Life Vest job for a fitting right in Dyer. I watched the two girls while she went to take care of business. (Life Vest is a cardiac support device that doctors recommend for some heart patients) While she was gone, we read books, and watched some Sesame Street. Phoebe is a real mama’s girl, but she’s become used to me enough that we got along just fine. She actually spent most of the time sitting in my lap. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a 22 month old share my lap for the afternoon. Sweet!
I’m hoping their whole family will be joining me for a cookout at the campground tomorrow for lunch. The weather is predicted to be gorgeous for a change.
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
I'm glad you are getting some memorable and precious family time. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Our granddaughter is older and loves gymnastics. She's always sad when it's over. It would be fun to have a little one on my lap. Have a great cookout. Good weather - YEA
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable baby!!! You enjoy your time with the family. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Glad to hear that the weather is finally cooperating!
ReplyDeleteOk, u need a new header :)
ReplyDeleteI miss having a little one...all our grandkids are too old to sit in our laps:( Enjoy it while you can!
ReplyDeleteSo very cute. Our oldest grandson (he's now 22) took gymnastics when he was just 18 months old and your pictures brought back happy memories. Hope you have a great cook out tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteso cute!!..what a great program for 'young ones'!!
ReplyDeleteyeah, precious!
ReplyDeleteand I agree, as I think I mentioned before... about the new header!
I disagree about the new header...I find Killdeer to be one of the most fascinating birds with their broken wing act and all. But change is always good ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm adding my "So Cute!" to the rest. A cute little outfit, too.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter wouldn't do the flip the first time around, either. It must be scarey for them. The next class she did it, and was very proud of herself. Your little one looks very happy with her trophy. I'm glad you were there to experience this.
Great photos and what a wonderful afternoon!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun

Wishing you nice weather for your cookout and a fun family day. I always enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat time, glad I could see it from the black hole of internet at Dayton Air Base!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of your granddaughter holding the trophy!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a sweet child on your lap..and Avery is just adorable...Reminded me of when I took my 18 month old grandson to his "music" class...Too much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved that last photo with her trophy, so jubilant! I would love to have someone curl up in my lap for an afternoon, such a joy.
ReplyDeleteJumping was my favorite gymnastic activity too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie she is. Looks like lots of hard work on her part. Don't you just love grand kids? Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves a trophy :) She is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteBalance beams are ok as long as they're on the floor. Whenever I see a gymnast working out on one I spend my time holding my breath, especially if they're doing flips. Might that be in her future???
