Getting the normal heebie jeebies

I’m off to Brown and Brown RV repair tomorrow morning, and I’ve got the usual heebie jeebies the day before a move.  Since my last day on the road was really quite a disaster, I’m trying to tell myself it was because I was ill, and my normal judgment was impaired.  As you may know, driving the rig is my least favorite thing to do in this fulltime life.  I’d sure like to say beam me up, Scotty, and magically arrive at my next destination.

Robyn and the girls came out for a few hours today, and we had a cookout over the campfire.  They had to leave before I had a chance to break out the marshmallows.  It was a brief but enjoyable visit.  The rest of my day was taken up with preps for travel.  I think I’ve remembered everything, and only have to unhook the utilities in the morning.  I’ve decided not to tow the car along.  I’m hoping they can fix the awning tomorrow or the next day, and I’ll return to Pioneer Family Campground to wait for the new basement panel.  I’m sure that will take some time to order from Winnebago.

_MG_2002I received the part for my Wilson antenna so I could hook up the amplifier.  I thought it was going to work, but, alas, it did not!  So, I packed the whole thing away again, and will let the folks know in Louisiana once again.  Ugh!

Don’t you just wish things would go easy for a change?

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. It'll get better. You can do it, you've come so far. Don't let a little "rain" get you down.

It could be worse, you could be working at a job and not have an RV... ;c)

  5. I think pre-trip jitters are common for many folks but like a lot of other things, once you turn the key & head out, the jitters will be replaced once again by driving experience & familiarity & you will get on with getting the job done. Tally-ho & away you go:))

  6. It should be easier tomorrow by not towing the car. And I agree, once you head out things will be familiar and easier. Have you thought about a smaller rig? Jim and I have talked about a smaller one because I really hate driving this one.

  7. We finally don't loose sleep before a move but we did for a long time. We still use check sheets for hitch up and set up. We don't look at them as much but before we take off we always go through and make sure everything is checked off. I just think it is great that your are willing to live outside your comfort zone and so this.

  8. Since everything went wrong last time, this time should be a breeze!! Seriously, I hope you feel better once you hit the road. I admire your courage.

Sorry to show my lack of knowledge, but what kind of dove is that? It looks a little different from what I am used to seeing. I just love the sound of doves.

  9. Did you hate driving when you had a smaller rig?

I know you are spending more time per place. I became a follower just before you got the new rig, so I don't know how the old one was for travel.

    God luck tomorrow.

  14. Trying to travel when you're sick is not the best plan and I'm sure you'll do fine (as you usually do) now that you're feeling better.

  16. Actually, I think eventually Dennis and I will downsize to a small motor home someday..He will be 70 next Spring (and looks and acts 60)...But I think a small motor home with a little tow car might be more practical and less work to set up as we dip our toes into the sunset years...Even with the Hiker, I get nervous before we travel..and I don't even drive!! You are doing great...better than most of us girls..But just remember...there are tons of other RV choices out there if you ever decide to downsize.

  18. Safe travels and best of luck that the repairs go quickly and smoothly! Like another commenter, I have been having problems leaving comments using my Google account. It shows me as anonymous, so I've been just using my blog link. Carole DeAngeli (In the Sonoran Sun)

  19. Judy, I bet you will be fine and that your last day on the road was indeed due to not feeling up to par. Remember we are all riding along with you in spirit - hopefully we won't be partying so much or raising such a racket that we'll distract you from driving! ;)

  20. I didn't realize you don't like driving your rig...so I have to say I think you're amazing that you do it anyway. It sounds like you're "acting as if" and doing a very good job of it. I hope we get to meet out there someday.
