I was happy for almost two days…

until I decided to pack a lunch last night for today’s drive.  That’s when I noticed that the fridge seemed not very cold.  The LED read out at the top said the fridge was 38*, and the freezer was –2*.  I didn’t think so, so I put in a thermometer, and sure enough; the fridge was 60 and the freezer was nearing 40.  Sad smile  My soaring spirit took a nose dive.  I checked everything I could think of last night, but it was too late to call anyone.

This morning, I did battle over the phone with SAMSUNG about getting it repaired.  They said they couldn’t authorize any warranty work on it until I faxed them a copy of my receipt of purchase.  They felt it was out of warranty.  I just bought it in January for Pete's sake!

I’m at the Marion Campground and RV Park down in Marion, IL.  To my surprise, they had a fax machine and faxed the required document to SAMSUNG at 9:00 this morning.  SAMSUNG told me they would call me back after they looked at it.  Five hours later, I called them back to find out what the holdup was.  I was informed that it takes one to two business days for them to look at the fax.  What a load of crap that is!

So, I’m back to playing the waiting game once again.  At least this time I’m in a campground with full hookups.  I just went over to the office and got two bags of ice.  I sure hope someone can come out tomorrow to fix it.  Uff-dah!

  2. That doggone Murphy has stuck again. I just don't believe all this s&%t. Hang in there...I know if it were me I would probably have lost my mind by now.

  3. WOW I cannot believe the amount of trouble you have with that motorhome. I sure hope it stops soon. Not really good advertising for that brand of motorhome. It's nice though that you are in a park at least with hook-ups. Hopefully you will at least enjoy that park.

  4. Insurance and Warranty companies - don't ya just love 'em?? I always hear folks saying that 'government should be run like a private business'!! Like a warranty company? Like an insurance company?

  5. Wow, someone, somewhere doesn't want you to go south. There's gotta be a reason why you're not in Texas by now. Sorry you are having so many problems.

  6. Good heavens! I am so very sorry about all your rig issues. You KNOW I can empathize. Try to keep your spirits up. At least you have FHU and ice nearby!

  7. I sort of think what Teri said. Sometimes there is a reason nothing seems to go right, and maybe you need to alter your course. I really hope Samsung comes through quickly.

Have you looked online to see if there are ways to review these products, from the motorhome down to the fridge? I think it would be good to let people know (at least those who look for reviews) what kind of crap you are going through.

  8. Say it's not so--not your new residential-style refrigerator. Maybe something got disconnected by mistake? Do you REALLY want to go south this winter? Mr. Murphy has moved into your rig, for sure!

  9. Oh dear! I have my fingers crossed that you'll be on your way very quickly.

  10. OH NO!!!!! We are so sorry to hear of more problems. You need to escort Mr. Murphy out of your rig and the csmpground!

  11. What a load of crap...not only do you need to change your number, you need to destroy it! Let Murphy go elsewhere, maybe back to the dealer that you got the motorhome from...they deserve Murphy, not you!

  12. Oh Judy, I am so sorry this happened. One to two days to look at a fax is beyond ridiculous. Fingers crossed for you once again.

  13. UFFDA! DOUBLE UFFDA!

You sure do have a big black cloud overhead these days. Does this mean you have to stay put until they send out a repair man of their choice? I know around here is always takes days to get a repairman unless something is an emergency. So sorry!

  14. UFFDA my a&&, I might have a more colourful and less Scandinavian term that I would be flinging about.

    Good luck with the repairs.

  15. Don't you just love the way companies stand behind their products. I am making a note that if I need a new house style fridge not to loo at theirs.

Our daughters new frig did the same after about six months ago, turned out to be the motherboard. I am sure you have heard that expression recently:(

  16. I'm so sorry for you but i'm also thinking you are not meant to head south just now. I read something recently that said you are where you are supposed to be.

The good news is its under warranty and you're at a campground.

    Hang in there!

  17. I agree with what Teri said...everything happens for a reason and for some reason you are not meant to be where you had planned to be. Maybe Murphy has nothing to do with it!?

  18. Don't let these setbacks keep you from your goal! Persevere! Is this an extended warranty or the original? Maybe you could copy your blog and all comments to the mfg and warranty company.....let them see the reputation they are getting.

  19. Unbelievable! I'll say a few Uff-dahs for you if you think it will help. Sure hope Samsung gets someone out there to help you. Be sure and tell them all your blogger friends are watching.

  20. I'm sorry this bad luck streak has been following you. Maybe you need to check your back bumper?

Hope this is cleared up quickly, you need a cold place to store your black olives.

  21. Did you walk under a ladder or cross paths with a black cat? I can't believe the amount of bad luck you're having. I agree with some of the others, it seems maybe you are being kept from something by divine intervention. Maybe you're avoiding something really bad, but will never know.

  22. WOW you sure are having the luck this time around. Hope things work out better soon!!!

  23. This sounds so typical. Our whirlpool fridge went out when we were down in the desert (middle of summer) and Sears said only a whirlpool tech could work on it. Next appt open is 2 weeks out. What? Can you believe they wouldn't move a dishwasher or dryer back and slip us in as an emergency.

I complained about it and the gal who made the appts. said the next time lie and say you have medication that needs to be refrigerated then they have to move you to the front of the line. What a joke! All I know is I won't be loyal to Sears or Whirlpool next time.

Good luck getting this fix fast. Then tell Murphy to move on!! ;)

  24. Just one question .... is there a great big foo bird over your head?

Do you know that joke? If not, let me know, and I'll fill you in. :)

  25. Ridiculous -- cannot believe Samsung had the nerve to tell you it would take a couple of days to look at the fax...what customer service. Guess that means you won't be coming to Maumelle tomorrow:(

  26. one day you will look back on all the 'murphy issues' and laugh..but for now!..geesh!!!!

  27. I think the "Law" ought to arrest Murphy!

  28. I agree with one of your posters who recommended posting a review of the appliance/company. I did this on an expensive kitchen rubber mat and had a phone call ( of all things!) from the VP of the company who said he'd send me two new ones and a return postage to send back the defective mats. He did and I did. Worked out surprisingly well. SO. Post a review!!

  30. Not much I can say that hasn't been said. Hope you get it fixed soon, surprised Samsung didn't insist on their reply in Japanese.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...

  31. Two days of respite was definately not enough, after what you have been through!

If samsung does not cooperate I'm willing to bet we can organize an email onslaught of RVers willing to protest and boycott them! Just say the word, post an email and contact.

  32. Last week we met a couple of new fulltimers (3 weeks). The guy was nearly suicidal because they've had nothing but RV trouble since they started. The morning we met them he had just found a leak behind a wall. We told them things would get better and to hang in there, but I'm sure you know just how he felt!

  33. Sounds like, if you didn't have bad luck you'd have no luck at all. Hope this is the end of all this batch of trouble.

  34. I have been wondering if both the parking brake and the refrig issues could somehow be traced back to all the electric power problems you had at that campground awhile back?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh my Goodness!! I was so glad to see you were finally out of that parking lot! All I can say is, you are truly an inspiration to those of us who are looking for a mentor who perserveres!Hope it is fixed soon...

  36. Look, this has gotta be a test from some higher power, or a bad joke from a lower power. Speaking of power, maybe this IS from the RV power source. Sure wish McGuyver was there with his little power tester kit. If this is for sure the refrig I would find out who the CEO is (you can find out online) and email a letter to his attention. It works for me. Don't be afraid to do some screamin' through your fingertips!
