A happy 4th at the pool

What a great holiday it was today.  It helped me forget my electricity woes.  After incorrectly setting the clocks to the wrong hour after starting the generator yesterday, it turned out I was up and taking Emma on her first outs at 6:00!  Egad!  No wonder she was still all curled up on the couch. (she sneaks up there after I go to bed each night, and doesn’t think I know)  Well, you know how it goes once you are up.  I was ready for the day, albeit a bit early.  Emma and I, and my laundry, swim suit, and camera, were headed for Robyn’s house by 9:00.  I normally leave a bit later, but I just couldn’t sit around any longer.  I opened all the windows and shut down the generator.  I knew the fridge would be fine for the time I would be gone.  After all, it is always off when I’m traveling down the road.

Since it was a holiday, Dennis was home as well.  I don’t get to see much of him, so that was nice.  He was very busy assembling a huge umbrella for shade out by the pool.  While Robyn and I took the girls for a dip during the late morning, Dennis worked away on the umbrella.  I’m happy to report that he is a guy that actually reads the assembly instruction booklet.  Smile At one point, he was getting a little frustrated (my opinion) with the instructions which I think are often written by someone with English as a second language.  He was wise enough to just put things down, and jump into the pool to cool off (in more ways than one).

Here’s the results of his labor.  Have you ever seen such a big umbrella?  It also swivels so you can move the shade around.

Before long, it was time for a PB&J lunch on the pool deck.  What a great time these gals are going to have in the future with that marvelous pool in their own backyard.  No crusts left over with these new fangled sandwiches.

Soon it was time for little Phoebe to take her nap…

while big sister Avery got some one on one time with Mom.  Once they were both down for their naps, I got some nice one on one time with my daughter.  Smile

When Emma and I got back to the rig, I decided to plug in the electric just for kicks.  Surprise!  It came on.  Yes!  Well, sort of.  Seems I can run everything but the AC.  If I turn that on, everything shuts down.  The surge guard is doing it’s job.  I’m thinking there’s not enough voltage to run everything.  Oh well, that’s an improvement anyway.  I hope they’ll get the new transformer tomorrow and things will be back to where they should be.  In the meantime, I’m running the fantastic fan to try to cool things down inside of the rig.  Despite the windows being open, the temp inside was 90 when I got home.

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  6. Remember when we were young, only the really rich had air conditioning! At least in Milwaukee. I remember the sweltering summer nights when the pillow felt hot.

    The umbrella looks great!

  7. Hoping you are back to full electric soon, That pool looks good too, that is where my week will be spent, either in the pool or the Lake, both of which are really nice now that it has been hot weather for a few weeks, last time we were here we were in water about 5 hours a day, surprised we didn't permanently wrinkle.Tell Emma Hi from Rigg's, he's bumming because dad will be gone for a week and he isn't allowed in the Lake anymore. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna....

  8. In 4 years I think we have only had our rigs A/C on twice but then again we don't travel in the summer. Yep, that's a big umbrella alright.

Nice to hear you've at least got some electricity back, hopefully full power will be restored soon.

  12. Thank goodness you could at least cool off a little in the pool. What is wrong with these people that can't get the electricity up and running? I bet they don't have any trouble charging you full price for you campsite. :c(

  13. The pool looks great. I'm sure your family will love it for years. I see they put a fence up on one side, did they child proof it all around? Pool safety is really big here in Arizona.

  16. Gotta love granddaughers. Ouch! 90 inside? For me I would find it impossible to sleep. Never had A/c as a child or even up until last fews years. (and it's been a LOOONNNNNGGGGG time since I was a child). How spoiled we become.

  17. Love the umbrella. The babies are so adorable. Dennis did a great job. Hope your electric problems are solved soon. Our electric dept. lost my check, so I am writing another one. If they lose this one, they are paying the bill. Always something.... :)
