Old Sol finally returned!

When I took Emma for her first outs this morning, I was a little shocked to realize that I was actually going to see the sun today.

There have been heavy clouds, rain, and storms for the last week or so.  What a treat to see the sun finally shine through.  Of course, the prediction for today included temps around 90, and that’s what happened.

Most all of the holiday weekend folks left by noon today.  It’s too bad they had such a miserable weekend weather-wise.  The weekend wasn’t as wild as many campgrounds I’ve been in for Memorial Day, and my only gripe is about my next door neighbors that have two dogs.  One of them was not on a leash, and of course came over to do its business in my site.  There were a lot of dogs here this weekend, and I didn’t see any owners carrying bags to clean up after their pets.  That is a pet peeve of mine!  (pun intended)

I had a couple of new visitors to the Hard Rock Bird Café today.

Mr. and Mrs. American goldfinch stopped by.  I’m surprised they didn’t choose the Niger seed sock, but with all the rain we’ve had perhaps the seeds are no longer very fresh.  I’ll have to check that out tomorrow.  Do you notice that the seed tray has been pretty well gnawed?  That’s from those pesky squirrels down in Mississippi.

Emma and I spent a good share of the morning and late afternoon outside.  The midday sun made it just too hot to sit outside.  Emma was panting away, so we moved indoors for a while with the AC on.

A nice swallowtail butterfly took a little rest in the front yard.  Without lots of flowering plants around, it’s hard to get them to hold still enough for a photo.

Perhaps you’re able to detect that I finally got a decent night’s sleep last night, so I’m feeling quite a bit better today.  Tomorrow morning is the last dose of the medicine I’ve been on.  I’m thrilled with that prospect.  I’ve had several of the listed side effects from this drug; one of which is a bad taste in the mouth.  Bad taste isn’t strong enough.  It’s like I’ve been sucking on a lead pipe, and it’s enough to gag a person.  Smile with tongue out

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the holiday weekend (or not holiday weekend) depending on where you’re from.  I did take a moment of silence today at 3:00 to honor and remember our service men and women.  I am so grateful to them.

                                                                                 THE END!

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. I get a bit vocal when I see dog owners let their dogs off leashes which then leads to them doing their business anywhere and everywhere.

Love the swallowtail photos. I have discovered that butterflies can be extrmely difficult to photograph, almost worse then some birds. My nyger feeder is loaded with American Goldfinches...I love this time of year!!

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Having the sun sun will make you feel even better! ;-)

And thanks to blogger once again, I am having to comment anonymously.

  2. Te best part about both of my Labs was that they almost always went down into the meadow, into the high grass, near the edge of the forest where no one else ever set foot. I'm not sure I would like to always have to go out with them on a leash. (But if we went to a public place I always took a couple of bag!)

  3. That photo of the sun rays is awesome1!

And the medication you're taking sounds like one I took a couple months ago. It is ghastly! I was sipping water and sucking on hard candies and mints, chewing gum constantly!! I feel for you!

  5. Oh, one more thing .... people who let their animals do their business wherever make me want to (I wouldn't, honest, but I think about it) scoop it up and deposit it on their own site. Maybe outside their door. Just before dawn. No, I really really wouldn't, but I do think of it. Those people are rude.

  7. So happy you're feeling better. Now get rid of that nasty taste. Love the sun picture. Always love sun pictures. And I have terrible thoughts about people who don't clean up after their dogs. We would never think of not cleaning up no matter where we were.

  8. Love the pics as always. Hate it when people let their dogs run loose & don't clean up after them. I too would like to scoop it up & dump it outside their door! Is that mean?

  9. As others have said, the picture of the sun rays peeking through the trees is awesome.

We saw the sun today, too, after a small rain shower this morning. The sight of the sun was welcome!

  12. I am with you on dog owners that do not clean up after their pets. Before having a dog, it annoyed me and now that I have one that I clean up after, it annoys me even more.
The irony is that the park owner has two pets that run free and do their business wherever they please! I give up!

  16. Feeling not too well in a beautiful place versus feeling great at work? I have never come up with an answer at to which combination is better. I do know, however, that feeling great in a beautiful place is the best of all. Looks like you will be arriving at that combo soon.

Glad you are feeling better and thanks for the great pictures.

  17. I am amazed at the number of people who don't leash their pets and/or clean up after them. It seems there are lots of people who feel the rules don't apply to them whatever it is they are doing. I try to compliment the people who have their pets on a leash. Saying something to the rule breakers is a waste of time. If they cared, they'd be doing the right thing in the first place. Glad you're feeling better!

  18. Love the last shot - I get so many pictures of the rear ends of animals, I'm really mad at myself for not thinking of it! Glad you are feeling better.
