Doing time in Boise

When I got up this morning, the ice maker was talking to me.  Even though I don’t have a water hook-up here in the parking lot, the ice maker started making noises.  That means it’s definitely time to defrost the freezer.  I have been avoiding this task, but buckled down this morning and got to work.  Later, I loaded up my bag of dirty clothes and headed into Meridian to the nearest laundromat.  Laundromats always seem to be interesting places to do some people watching, and today was no exception.  The skinniest women I have ever seen in my life came into the laundromat this afternoon, loaded four dryers with a ton of clothes, sprayed them with fabreze, and turned them on.  Mind you, she didn’t wash them first.  Her companion just kept bringing clothes out of the back of their pick up truck, and he also brought in about a hundred plastic hangers.  Hmmm, interesting.  While I was there, I went out into the parking lot and talked to a guy about fixing a chip I have in the motorhome windshield.  We’ll see if he shows up tomorrow evening to fix it.
IMG_6104After the laundry was done, I made a stop at the local Walgreen’s to get my flu shot for the year, and of course stocked up on some essentials!  :)  I like Walgreen’s for a couple of reasons.  They have things like Ritz crackers and Oreo cookies in package sizes that you can’t find in a normal grocery store.  I don’t need family sized supplies of these things.  Jean Nate is essential to my well being, and I couldn’t resist two kinds of popcorn.  This is National Popped Popcorn month you know.

Emma and I did our normal patrol of the parking lot just before sunset and encountered this flock of house finches getting ready to roost for the evening.
_MG_6114 Overhead were some gulls heading west.
IMG_6118I also found another milkweed plant dispersing it’s seeds as we made our way along the crest of the small hill behind the RV sites.
IMG_6126There’s a barbed wire fence at the top with vines growing along it.  This vine had red berries.  I don’t know what it is.
_MG_6132As we made out way back to the rig it occurred to me that I probably won’t have much to post about in the next week or so.  It’s just a waiting game.  If I find anything exciting going on, I’ll let you know.

Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later,  Judy

  1. No, I didn't know that about popped popcorn month! And BTW, have you tried the kettlekorn version in that red bag? It is awesome! I highly recommend it! Let me know what you think of the movie theatre version.

Love the picture of the fence post/vine. Don't know about the berries either, but I love that rustic look!!!

    Weirdo story about the laundrymat!?!?!?!

  2. Oh my goodness, I haven't seen Jean Nate in years. My grandmother always had a bottle of the cologne on her bathroom counter..oh the memories!
Beautiful shot of the house finches. I have been rather disappointed this year with the lack of them at my feeders!

  3. OK, that story about the laundromat tops anything I've ever seen, and that is saying a lot. How could you not keep from staring or taking a couple of pics?

  5. O.M.G.

That is a bummer. What is it about warranty companies? I think they try to deny every claim.

Hope you find some interesting things to do.

  6. And to think that I have been unnecessarily washing my clothes before drying them. I could have just used Febreeze. That's quite a tale from the laundromat!

You are having to be creative with your pictures while stuck at Camping World, but it's still a pleasure to read your blog and see what you come up with each day.

  7. Defrost the freezer? Yikes, what am I in for? I haven't defrosted a freezer for at least 30 years! Cleaned them out from time to time, emptied them for moving, but not the defrost thing.

I learn something new about the RV world every day.

Oh, and I have only been to one movie (Avatar in 3D) this year. I get mine a year or so late on Net Flix.

Please keep posting. you find humor in every day.

  8. Maybe those folks work at a thrift shop and recently got a big donation of used clothing. They put them in the dryer with Febreze, which would freshen them up plus get some of the wrinkles out. Just a speculation.

I love the house finches, and you got a beautiful photo of them.

  9. I love the laundry "tip" - now I can save money and time. A few spritzes, a few spins in the dryer and voila! Clean clothes! Who woulda thought? :) For movies there's always Red Box. Jigsaw puzzle, anyone? Have you taken up knitting yet? Well, hang in there. Great photos!

  10. A flu shot while picking up Ritz Crackers & Oreo cookies at a Walgreen store seems like quite an unusual thing to this Canadian. That's quite an interesting grocery store health plan concept you guys got down there.

  11. I'm so glad to know it's National Popcorn Month - that's my favorite food (next to chips, chocolate, steak, etc.)And I love laundromats. But I must admit - your visit was much more exciting than most of mine.

Hang in there. This too shall pass.

  13. Nice shot of the finches...here my finches get conjunctivites and I catch them and put them in my little hosptial box, I use terrimycin on the eyes in a few days they are good to go sight restored! Last yr we had a few with the infliction, this yr there are Many...I have 2 in infirmary right now...and this is the 6th so far this yr. Its easy to catch them I sneak up on their blind side and grab them at the feeder!

  15. Interesting tale about the laundromat people; it sounds like they were trying to "clean" their mountain of laundry on the cheap, hehe. Laundromats can get expensive!

Mmmm... that Poppycock stuff is delicious.

  16. Sorry, after being on the road for two days I am just now reading blogs at my sister's house in PA. I see that you are still at Camping World, See where the courthouse is as I think you have been there long enough to register to vote, and there should be an election coming up this fall. Glad to see you and Emma still have walks to take to kill the boredom. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  17. Beautiful pictures once again! A long time ago, when I had a house, I had a nest of house finches in a hanging basket. All went well until mom decided it was time for the babies to leave the nest, and the babies didn't think so. Mom got all of her friends together to buzz the nest and force the babies out! It was hysterical!

  18. The lady in the laundromat was trying to get rid of bedbugs!! Drying clothes in the dryer kills the bugs and eggs.
