Last night as I turned on the computer, I was able to connect to the internet through the volunteer village Wi-Fi very briefly. I got kicked off pretty quickly, and that was the end to that for the night. When I tried to get back on this morning it was a no-go. Uf-dah! I was waiting for a new aircard to be delivered from Verizon, and now I couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi.
Tonight’s pics come from my amazing boat trip through the Okefenokee swamp on Sunday. We saw lots of little blue herons.
Not having an internet connection was rather frustrating, and I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. I messed around for a while trying to figure things out, which isn’t easy for a non-techie like me. Then a light bulb went off in my head when I found something about restoring the computer to a previous date. I gave it a try, and Viola!! I could get back on the Wi-Fi.
On our trip through the swamp, we had a couple of hitchhikers join us. There was this formidable looking insect and…
…this little tree frog hopped on board for a little ride.
Then this afternoon, I picked up my mail and the new aircard was delivered. I really didn’t expect it to help much since the tech had said some people were experiencing problems if they used Windows 7. That’s what I use, so I was shocked when I installed the new aircard and it got me back on.
I wanted to see sandhill cranes on Sunday, and I got my wish!
Getting internet back two ways today made me feel like a beginning Rick protégée. I hope you know that’s really a joke…
It just wasn’t a pleasure cruise we were on Sunday, we had work to do. I decided it was best for me to be a supervisor for the installation of this vent on top of the outhouse at Monkey Lake. Russell must be part monkey, because he got up on top to install the vent without the use of a ladder!
While Russell worked away, I enjoyed the view from the boat of Monkey Lake. The only way to get to these shelters is by canoe. I reveled in the sound of all the cranes talking to each other while I drank in the serenity of this designated wilderness area. I’m so grateful that my companions went out of their way to help me in and out of the boat so I could enjoy this experience. It is very humbling to be handicapped and need to rely on the help of others to accomplish things that I’ve always taken for granted. Again, “I Get Along With a Little Help From My Friends.”
I leave you tonight with last night’s Okefenokee Swamp sunset. What a place this is!
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Great pic's as usual. Think we'll put your location on our bucket list. Glad things are looking up on the internet front. Wishing you the same on the surgery issues.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures tonight, Judy!!! Love the sunset & Sandhill Cranes in flight!
ReplyDeleteGlad your air card worked out fine. I think we all would like to be like Rick.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset photo. Great job!
December in the swamp looks pretty nice. No mosquitos
ReplyDeleteGood work with fixing the internet. I wonder if I should try that.
ReplyDeleteIt's always good when we have adequate access to the internet! :)
ReplyDeleteHubby thinks he's "roughing it" if the internet doesn't function properly. . .great ending shot! Really beautiful. . .

This is why I love the internet! How else would I have EVER known I wanted to see a sunset on the Okefenokee Swamp!
ReplyDeleteI am ever so grateful to still have a son at home that I can always convince to help me with internet woes.
ReplyDeleteGood thing that outhouse has a sturdy roof...that could have turned into a real shitty job! ;)
Beautiful photos. Love the sunset on the swamp. You are a techie guru. Have a great evening!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your Internet connection problems, Judy. System Restore is always a good option when nothing else seems to work!
ReplyDeleteYour Okefenokee Swamp sunset photo is spectacular!
All righty, then! With your new aircard connection, I'll be looking for more interesting "The End" pictures. :c)
ReplyDeleteRick is the best IT resource I've ever seen. Even I can understand his tips. Glad the restore tip worked for you. Hope I can remember that if I have connectivity problems down the road...
Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteGood for you with the internet fixes. Rick has taught you well.
ReplyDeleteI am just green with envy over your trip and all that you saw. I must get there to stay longer than a few days. What a glorious place!! And this is the right time of year to be there. You are so smart!!
Fantastic sunset shot. Swamp always seemed a somewhat negative place but you have shown how beautiful it can be.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your sandhill crane friends. We saw a flock of 'em in the Sacramento delta two wks ago. Bet they weren't "cheese heads!"
ReplyDeleteGotta love the computer/internet... when it works! Glad to see yours working well now.
Next time I have computer problems I will know who to email. :)
ReplyDeleteSystem restore is a good solution BUT FIRST you want to back-up any work/files you had done since the restore date you have chosen. Turning back the clock has its problems. Glad you are up and running again. I enjoy lurking on your blog.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sunset! On the internet connection thingy.... I hear ya! Don't know what I will have after I leave Dallas tomorrow....
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to fix your internet problems. I love the sandhills in flight.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these photos. I have many good memories of the times I spent in the Swamp. Need to get back there.
ReplyDeleteLove the heron photo--actually I loved all the photos. Sounds as if you are working with a great bunch of volunteers.
ReplyDeleteI used to have to fix computers when I was teaching - both in my class and for the whole school. My philosophy is: kick 'em till they work. But building up a little list in your mind of stuff to try really helps.
ReplyDeleteAnd we had terrible Internet problems at Malheur and then found the router? repeater? had to be redirected. Winds made it's signal partially miss us. After it got so bad, we had to call for help, we found that out.
Hope you get that hip fixed soonest before another body part goes.
Oh, that last photo of the swamp sunset is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe'd be lost without our internet, sorry to say. Lovely photos, as always...spectacular sunset!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous sunset shot of the swamp ... it looks so incredibly peaceful.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of System Restore..But that's how very un techno I am...McGyver surely knows about it..I'm anxious to use our new wireless Verizon on the road and see how it works...
ReplyDeleteThe Okefenokee Swamp sunset picture is beautiful. What a nice place you volunteer.
ReplyDeleteThe sunset picture is spectacular. You certainly know how to use a camera, even if you aren't as high techie on computers as some! The camera has to be more satisfying.
ReplyDeleteSo happy your back on
ReplyDeleteYour large insect, could it be a Walking Stick?
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you fixed your internet connection! Always frustrating without it!
Gorgeous photos from the Swamp!
