(This post should have been published Saturday evening.)
I’ve discovered many more reasons why I like volunteering at National Wildlife Refuges while I’ve slowly been traveling to North Carolina the last six weeks. I’ve been staying in COE campgrounds and while they have been very scenic, it’s the little things that are beginning to get to me. Most of the refuges I work at are gated communities which means I don’t have to deal with the public after 5:00.
Have I mentioned that the site across from me for the last week has been inhabited with a grandma that has 150 grandchildren? (I’m not sure that is really an exaggeration either) I generally don’t mind kids, and I’m happy to see many families camping, but the noise level has been challenging to me.
Then there has been the issue of my connectivity to the internet. Refuges are generally off the beaten path, but there has been only one location where I had no air card service. With Sprint deciding about eliminating unlimited roaming, I’ve struggled with that especially at this location.
I’ll be moving tomorrow, but the forecast is for a 60% chance of rain, so I rolled up my rug and put away most things tonight. As I tried to detach the extended stay hose to my extra propane tank, I couldn’t get it undone. I have next to no strength in my hands and wrists these days so all I accomplished was pretty much stripping the edges of the nut I was trying to loosen. Yes, I have the exactly proper wrench, but it just wore off those edges. Grrr. I finally walked down the campground road seeking a friendly, strong looking man to help me. I was successful, but it is so frustrating when I should be able to do these things myself. He just used a pair of my pliers and tweaked it a little.
I wanted to post about another historic place I visited the other day, but I can’t do that without posting several pictures. I’ve had it trying to do that under my present circumstances, so it will have to wait.
Here’s a little hint, though. Maybe this connection will allow me to publish one picture in under three hours. Not a very positive post tonight, but that’s the way it is.
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Judy, just remember, some days are diamonds and some days are coal. Just hope the diamonds outshine the coal.
ReplyDeleteCould that be ol' Audie Murphy?
ReplyDeleteSome days are just like that. We all have them. Hopefully, they don't happen very often.
ReplyDeleteSome days we all have to ask for a little help. I hate it too!
ReplyDeleteOhh bugger on the propane tank thing... but one question, were you trying to unscrew it in the wrong direction? Propane tank threads are "opposite" from the regular threads.
