After reading all the helpful suggestions people made about my kayak mishap, I went outside this morning to pull the kayak all the way out of the bag to take some pictures of the mouse hole.
This is it. It’s about three inches long and two inches wide.
As I pulled it entirely out, I discovered more destruction. Perhaps one hole could have somehow been repairable.
On the opposite side I found an even larger hole and a mouse nest. It seems a female mouse had taken up residence, and brought in plenty of bird seed and shredded paper and such. Yuck! My hopes of finding repair solutions slowly sank.
In the meantime, I had been emailing Jeanne and Eldon (Where’s Eldo bloggers). They are also in the area, and had planned to come over to my site this evening for a cookout. As I got back on the computer, I found that Jeanne had sent me another email. In it she said they would like to give me an extra Sea Eagle 330 that they had. What’s that you say?? Jeanne is the kayaker in that pair, and it seems that the 330 came to them when they had ordered a different model. They never use it, and have just been toting it around in one of their storage bins. I couldn’t believe it! I was overwhelmed!
They brought it along tonight when they came over. Yahooie Louie!! I’m back in paddling business. It’s hard to get my mind around the generosity of new found friends. We have been following each other’s blogs for some time, but it’s the first time we met in person. As I’ve said a number of times before, “ I get by with a little help from my friends.”
Anything else I saw or did today pales in comparison to this wonderful experience out here on the road. Thank you again, Jeanne and Eldon. I’m sure you can all guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow morning… pump, pump, pump, and then paddle, paddle, paddle!
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Aren't RVers wonderful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful jester by Jeanne and Eldon. Enjoy your paddling.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like that kayak your blog friends kindly gave you might fit into a plastic storage container like you can get at Walmart, maybe one with the locks on the end to insure no mouse can get to it. I know nothing at all about the inflatable kayaks, but I was just thinking....~Pam in Louisiana~
ReplyDeleteBoy, what luck! Of course, we put ourselves out there when we blog, so we have more opportunities to make good connections and have positive experiences.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great. . .what wonderful folks RV'ers are. . .

Very nice! Hope you get to paddle this week. Are you thinking about not storing birdseed in the basement of the RV?
ReplyDeleteThe RV community comes through again. Wonderful gesture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing when "angels" appear and help solve problems. Enjoy paddling!

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful thing to do! You give so much with your volunteer time, you deserve a gift.
ReplyDeletePeople are just so wonderful. With all the bad stuff we hear on the news, it's so great to read about the generosity and kindness of others. And RVers certainly seem to come through more often. Enjoy your gift and have a wonderful time doing the paddle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great surprise. Aren't RVers great.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jeanne and Eldon for their generosity and thoughtfulness. I can tell you are thrilled - who wouldn't be? Make sure you've got a life jacket when you head out kayaking!

ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic! I am thoroughly convinced that you meet the nicest people out on the road. :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to meet an RVer who wasn't generous with whatever they had. I'm happy to see you be the recipient of some of that generosity.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very nice, generous thing to do! RVers are the best!!!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you can use your old Kayak for some underwater observations now....
ReplyDeleteSweet! There really are many nice folks out there. And you met two of them. :c)

ReplyDeleteSince Jeannie probably doesn't have another spare kayak... I'm buying us a canoe :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fun paddle!
You gotta love Karma! I read their blog, too, and now I'm especially glad I follow them, too. I hope their generosity is returned to them manyfold. :)
ReplyDeleteHowdy Judy & Emma,
ReplyDeleteThat was a very nice thing they did, BUT if the folks at Sea Eagle hadn't been
so nice to GIVE it to them, it may not have been so easy to give it away, so,
really the people who gave it to you were the NICE FOLKS AT SEA EAGLE!!!
Anyway, you have a new yak; what are you gonna do with the old one?? It can be patched-up and used, you know!! Sure was happy to see Emma's pic the other day,
but she didn't seem very happy, maybe a squirrel was giving her a hard time...
Sure do enjoy the pics and descriptions of your journey..
How one little mouse can do so much damage is beyond me! What a mess. So glad you got your new kayak...nice folks to share that way.
