Yep, it’s that time of the year again. I, personally, look forward to Daylight Savings Time for two reasons. Since I seem to rise with the sun, after a few days of adjustment, I’ll be getting a little more sleep for a while. It will also allow me to be outside until later in the evening. That makes me happy.
My plan for today was to take care of chores. I did get a couple of loads of wash out on the line, and that was good and not so good. No rain was forecast for today, so things would dry; that’s good. Notice those red sweatpants on the line? That’s the not so good part. They were new and receiving their first wash. I didn’t think a thing about it until I pulled the load out of the washer. As you may have guessed, the rest of the load now sports a rather pinkish tint to it.
As I noticed the blue skies and warming temperatures, I decided to forget about the other chores I had planned. I couldn’t pass up such a gorgeous day, so Emma and I headed out to the Gulf Shores National Seashore instead for a hike. First up was a chance to enjoy the blooming azaleas once again. I just can’t seem to get enough of these vibrant colors.
I’d much rather be out and about enjoying the wildlife than shopping for groceries.
We came here several times last year, so I knew to park in the picnic area and head out on foot for the trail.
There’s a nice gator pond along the way to the trailhead, but there were only turtles out sunning themselves today.
Even though this is a well used trail, being out in the woods always makes me imagine I’m the first person ever traveling this path.
There always seems to be something new to see. I spent some time watching this little dude. I was unable to capture it with a photo, but every so often he would stop and inflate a red patch on his throat for a Nano-second. I just couldn’t press the shutter fast enough to capture it.
Of course, I had avian friends along the way as well. It was quite warm, and a little buggy for this walk. The no-see-ums have arrived recently in Mississippi, and like mosquitoes they seem to seek me out.
As I sat on one of the benches to observe the lizard, Emma seemed to relax as well. I mistakenly thought that perhaps I had burned up some of her unlimited energy. As usual, I was wrong about that. As soon as I stood up she was off to the races once again. I really think she should live with a ten year old boy!
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Washing the red pants could have been written by me.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? You shouldn't wash red sweat pants with light colored clothes? Since when? LOL Just love looking at your pictures.
ReplyDeleteDennis ran outside and started a campfire tonight about 5PM after the rain seemed to quit..I stayed inside..still too windy and cool for me, and sometimes Den needs his own space and so do I..After being stuck inside for almost 3 days, some quality personal was due for both...It helps keep us married, eh??
ReplyDeleteI used to do that same thing with my wash when the kids were young. I would put the dirty clothes in the washer, they would run down and throw something in the washer unannounced to me....wala...tinted clothes.
ReplyDeleteI would much rather be doing ANYTHING before I go to the grocery store! Gorgeous photos! ~wheresweaver
Love your wonderful photos as always, Judy!
ReplyDeleteI love Daylight Savings Time as well, more time outside is always a plus!!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of the azaleas, they don't grow here.
nice work on the laundry..too bad about the pinkish tinge..oh well..life in a RV..who cares if you clothes are a bit on the pink side!..
ReplyDeleteEmma with a ten year old boy?..I don't think so!..I am sure she is very happy with you!
It's almost time for azaleas and rhodies around here. I too love those flowers. Your pictures are wonderful. Love the header - that bee does indeed look like he is worn out and taking a break. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots today, as always. I just love being taken on a walking tour with you and Emma. Have a great Sunday
ReplyDeleteNo daylight savings time for us until mid-April since we are in Arizona
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I look out over a wilderness view I think "This is the same as it was a hundred years ago!" Or when I look down at a small rock I think "no one has ever noticed this small rock before and no one will ever notice it again."
ReplyDeleteThose blooms are just fantastic!

Such pretty pictures, thanks Judy
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I mind about DST is that we have to fix almost everything that has an automatic-adjusting clock twice since the US no longer follows the standard shift dates for the entire world.
ReplyDeleteI was just going to ask if Emma was calming down, she looks so innocent and peaceful in te picture, Be glad she isn't 1007 lbs like Rigg's. although I will say he is not quite as much of a handful as he was when he was a year old, he's three now. But still is a wild card. So far he's never met a kid or other dog he didn't like. Be safe out there. Donna said we might try and alternate route on the way home and stop by. no promise yet we are going to Iverness to visit the Tempesta's and Jodie,CoCo, Sandy, They are home now from Mexico. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! We have not seen the sun in a few days, thanks for sharing yours :) Emma looks very happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking your pink tinge will match nicely with all the colorful flowers.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the pink thing, been there done that.
ReplyDeleteThat little green dude sure does get around. I'm sure he's the one we saw on the Blue Springs hike that wasn't last week-end. :-)
Gorgeous header picture!
How did you manage to find sunshine??? Going on day 5 of rain here, but your photo's bring the sunshine in. I really enjoy the header.
ReplyDeleteJust BS!(Bob and Sue)
Just catching up on your blog. Love all the azalea photos, especially Bellingrath Gardens. Pensacola was always so beautiful when they were in bloom. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOur weather has changed for the better today too. Hoping to get some hiking in the next few days. I also like daylight savings time. The bummer is we will be going to Arizona next week and they don't do daylight savings time. :( Also we use color catchers in our wash and it really helps prevent any color bleeding so I don't even do as much sorting.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! There's always so much to see if we just take the time to look around.
ReplyDeleteI've washed something new and red with a full load of clothes. My husband-at-the-time had pink shorts and t-shirts. I soaked them in bleach and re-washed and they turned white again.
Your pictures make me homesick for the house we sold to go FT (almost). We had it well landscaped with beautiful trees and flowers that made spring an magical time. Don't miss cutting the grass, though.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather be out and about, too instead of shopping...at least until I go hungry! ;c)
Your new header is beautiful! When I read through Google Reader I miss seeing those!
