When I last left you, I had just set up at Premiere RV in Scott, LA. Yesterday, Emma and I had to get lost for a few hours while the techs here took care of all the other things on my list that didn’t involve the refrigerator. You know, stuff like having the generator serviced after all the use this past summer, oil change for the rig, and having the front end panel adjusted so it wouldn’t pop open as I drive down the road. One of the techs also looked at and fixed one of my sliding closet doors. I’ve battled with that thing since day one, and it was just getting worse. It’s all fixed now.
(All pictures tonight are from last year’s stay at Anahuac NWR.)
There was no better time for a drive to Suire’s Grocery and Restaurant to have my first shrimp Po’boy of the season. I did a post on this place last January, and it’s still just as interesting and delicious as before. By the time we returned, the rig was back in it’s place. Plans were then made for Cory to pick up my new refrigerator on his way to work this morning.
When Cory arrived this morning, there was no fridge in the back of his truck. It seems the guy working the fork lift dropped the fridge on the ground from a height of at least four feet as he tried to load it into the truck! Cory said the thing bounced more than a foot in the air, and he refused to take delivery of it. Good grief! What next?
So, this afternoon Billy Thibodeaux (the owner of Premiere RV) will go to pick up a second refrigerator, and Cory will install it tomorrow morning. That’s the plan, anyhow. It will be black instead of silver, but I can still use my magnets on it. I’ll decide tomorrow if I like the black or want my present brushed silver doors installed instead. They have to take the doors off in order to get it in the window anyway. I’m thinking that the black is more likely to show fingerprints and such. Any input?
Then this afternoon I got a call from Stephanie, the volunteer coordinator at Anahuac, checking to see how things were going with my troubles. I told her I was hoping to pull into the volunteer pads on Friday. That’s when she asked me if I’d be able to work the Visitor’s Information Station (VIS) on Saturday. That Stephanie sure doesn’t give anyone time for grass to grow under their feet! Of course, I said yes since I’ll be arriving almost a month late as it is. I’m anxious to get there finally…
and enjoy some more of these great sunsets from my parking spot. (Do you see the goose cloud flying in at the top?)
Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later, Judy
Judy, I love, love, love the customer service you've received at Premiere RV. Sure wish they weren't 800+ miles away from us, or I'd be bringing them my business for sure! Hope everything goes as planned and you're able to begin volunteering on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteJust for future reference...it's "fridge", not "frig".
ReplyDeleteFrig is something you say when you don't want to say something worse. Although I'm pretty sure that by this point you wanted to say something worse.

oh, man, I just messed up...typed my website wrong in the profile! Sorry to clutter up you comments section.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of keeping close tabs on where you are and keeping at least one hundred miles away in case Murphy gets tired of screwing with you and looks around for someone else:)
ReplyDeleteWe are planning on going to Gulf Shores, I need to check if that is a safe distance.
I sure hope you catch a break real soon:)))))
Wowzers, hope they get you going tomorrow. We had our axle replaced yesterday and convection oven repaired today. Nothing like RV ownership.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe
I just don't even know what to say. Your luck has been incredibly bad. Sure hope you get out of there tomorrow with a new fridge.
ReplyDeleteI think somebody must have said "frig" when they dropped that "fridge". ;c)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train. Now have fun at the NWR, you deserve it.
Have u started writing your book yet? I think you have lots of stuff to put in there now!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Sure hope you get rid of that dark cloud that's been following you before you get to your destination. Weather's getting chillier here in NE. It'd be nice to have wheels on my house and be able to head somewhere warmer. Not part of my future I'm afraid. Safe travels, Judy.
ReplyDeleteAt least Cory had the sense to refuse delivery of the fridge ( and I also spell it frig most of the time too!). Hope you've on the move tomorrow. Loved revisiting the photos from last year and looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteGood for Cory. I think your luck has changed and things are looking up.
ReplyDeleteHad not been getting your posts recently and then BAM! several came in at one time, and I started reading about your continued troubles! I think Murphy needs his butt kicked to the curb and told to leave you the heck alone!! So sorry you've been under such stress and sure hope that it is all over soon.

Wow....it's time for your frustrations to end and get to the NWR. At least there it is peaceful and nature surrounds. There may be people there to deal with, but being surrounded by nature is grand. We loved our stint at Hsggerman NWR in Texas.
ReplyDeleteKick Murphy all the way out to Canada!
From someone who hates housework: Go with the brushed silver rather than the black. I have black and it shows everything. I have to polish off the cleaner or it gets cloudy streaks.
ReplyDeleteStainless is more "now" Black is very 1990's Hee Hee Trends in appliance colors?
I'm kind of like someone else above... I just don't know what to say any longer... You certainly deserve a big gold star right in the middle of your forehead, but then that would mean something all together different now wouldn't it!!!
ReplyDeleteNow get your butt to work!
I don't expect a fridge dropped from a height of 4 feet would look too good anyway!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if no one was around when the friggin' fridge was dropped... would the box have just been loaded onto Cory's truck as if nothing happened to it? It was lucky Cory was there at the time. You're sure going to enjoy the new fridge. :)
ReplyDeleteYou were only about 15 miles from my house if you are talking about the Suire's Grocery South of Kaplan. I try to stay away from there. I like their plate lunches too much. They do catering too.
ReplyDeleteHope they can get your refrigerator replaced without any more catastrophes.
Martha
hope the 'friggin' fridge is installed soon...black or stainless?..as long as it works!!!..and you don't have to buy ice anymore!
ReplyDeleteI had a black fridge in our 5thWheel and would never have another one. Too much upkeep. I was forever cleaning it. Keep the silver doors!!!
ReplyDeleteHope they won't drop this one!
"One step forward, two steps back" Sounds like the Judy and Emma cross country shuffle:))
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, Judy.
ReplyDeleteI think if you look at my post again, you will find that I added some about residential fridges.
I was thinking of you when I added it!
Surely hope that you can find a different brand, or some solution to your residential fridge problem.
I prefer them myself, but I have never had a Samsung.
My hair has got so long that I put it up in a bun, or pony tail!!
Happy Tails to Emma, and Happy Trails to you. Penny.
We had a black cooktop in our old stix and brix and were forever cleaning it, stick with the silver.
ReplyDeleteSome may not know this but there is a corollary to Murphy's Law, the "Judy and Emma Corollary" which states that 'Murphy was an optimist'.
Good luck with the frigging fridge :-)
I have a black "fridgin fridge", and it's surface is textured...no problem keeping it clean, and I HATE cleaning..Wish they made 'em with clear doors, so we could see what we wanted to eat without having to open the doors and look..
ReplyDeleteSheesh, they don't let you even have one day to relax before hitting the workforce, do they??
Look at the bright side- time for another po boy!
ReplyDeleteI vote for silver, more modern look. Hope your all finished with repairs soon. Put a Miller High life in that Fridge and get it to about 40 degrees, that will tell you that its working, and then you can sit down and drink it with a big smile on your face.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeletejust take a deep breath! this too will pass
ReplyDeleteI also vote for the silver as it's the current trend, although I've never had either. Ours at home was white and is wood paneled in the RV. Things are looking up. I predict some smooth sailing ahead. Love the goose cloud!
ReplyDeleteChapter 9 - The Case of the Bouncing FriDge!
ReplyDeleteIn the famous words of Charlie Brown...GOOD GRIEF!
I can't wait to hear about all the WONDERFULNESS in your next adventures since you're having all the yucky stuff happen all at the same time!
Blessins, K
Seems Silver it is. What? They don't have appliances in Avocado or Harvest Gold anymore?????
ReplyDeleteHope someone else noticed the fantastic hawk?? pictures you posted. Wow.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. I don't have one as yet. Hope your luck improves soon.
Bev in Halifax NS, Canada
Okay, I'm sitting here giggling at Kevin and Ruth's "frig" comment! :) Judy, I just bet you have been uttering a "frig" or two lately. Your fridge BOUNCED? While I am so sorry, I sure would have liked to have seen that!
