Did you ever wonder about…?

Olives?   I have.  Some people seem to love green olives, and others love black olives.  Personally, I like both of them, but black olives have always been my favorite.  Why is it that green olives come in a jar that stays good in the fridge for what seems like forever, but black olives only come in a tin can?  Is it because black olives don’t seem to be pickled?  Well, I made a wonderful discovery recently:

Black olives are now available in a re-closable container, so I can have a couple with my sandwich for lunch, and pop the container back into the fridge.  I’ve had this container several weeks, and the olives are still fresh.

Tonight as I took Emma out after her dinner, I found two dimes and a penny in the parking lot.  Have you ever wondered where coins like this have been?  I have.  What has been their journey?  One of the dimes was 14 years old.  I just wonder where it has been.

And what about all those planes coursing through the skies?  Have you ever wondered where all those passengers are going to or coming from?  I have.  I’m guessing these folks are going to O’Hare or Midway Airports, but where did they come from, and what are their stories?

Lately, I’ve mostly been wondering if I’ll ever get out of this parking lot in Indiana.  Let’s just say it will be another day or two.  Sad smile

What is it that you wonder about?

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. I'd say it's time you get out of that parking lot. There's a lot of wondering going on there.

  7. For me the only olive I liked is my Mom. She hated that name. We have a picture of a mouse hugging a green olive that says "Olive You". Personally, I think you're starting to lose it. Parking lotitis has set it. lol

  12. I love posts that make me think...

As for travelers? I've always wondered about Truckers. Not sure why but I guess you can say "here's your sign"! I'm destine to be jammin along the back roads of this wonderful country. :)

I'll pass on the olives unless they're on my pizza. Never been a big fan but my daughter can eat them right out of the can. She'll like the new container.

Good job for being "in the flow" now if you can just find that pot of gold! Good luck and safe travels...Cheers! ~M

  14. I often see people driving around on a sunday afternoon, some with kids, some without. some drive slow, some drive fast. I wonder where they are going.
I also see people on the train or walking around downtown, and wonder what their story is.
Is this first day on the job? Or last day on the job?
Have they been at their job a long time and ready to retire?
quit and find a new job?

So many stories for each of us.
Always a new door opening, and another door closing.
    Life is funny that way.

  19. Look's like you've been having a "wondering" kind of day. May you seen replace it with a "wandering" kind of day instead.

  20. Oh, Judy, here's hoping you get to leave that parking lot soon!

  21. I'm wondering if you're going to lose it before you get sprung! I'm also wondering how you managed to get such an incredible shot of the moon and plane and why you're picture are so much better than mine?

  22. In Texas we CAN get black olives in a jar. I hate the ones in cans.

The most amazing olive picture I have in my brain is from a grocery store in New York. There was an ENTIRE wall dedicated to olives. Several hundred kinds and stuffed with lots of different things.

And people in the Texas Hill Country are starting to grow olive trees. The millionaire that lived next to use in our rent house brought in a semi load of trees that were already 20 - 20 feet tall. And there is an olive place that is already selling them in Wimberly, I think.

  23. I like either type of olives on pizza but I only eat the green ones for snacks. I put out a bowl of olives for our family picnic this year and was surprised to find out how popular they were. No one has ever offered them at a family event before so I had no clue people liked them.

  24. We keep hoping you'll get to go wandering REALLY SOON!

  25. Love the pictures of the moon. I honestly wonder if I will ever be well again.

  26. When I was W o r k i n g I would see the same cars and people each morning going in the direction from which I was coming. I would wonder - why don't I work where they are going and they work where I am going. Sure would save us all a lot of time!

  27. I'm wondering why I didn't have you go to all the cemeteries in Indiana and find the grave sites I'm missing for my genealogy. You've certainly had the time. Not to mention, it might cheer you up, Many people have picnic's and walk their dogs there. Keep smiling, (while you still can).

  28. I like olives but can't say I've ever wondered about them much. I am wondering though about how and when your going to get paroled from the parking lot!

    ReplyDelete
  29. You've been in that lot so long now that you're likely facing state income tax on that twenty one cents you found! ;c)

Hope it'll go a long way towards paying for your repairs.

  30. I do the same thing with planes flying overhead, Judy. Where the heck is everyone going? And why? This week, as we have been heading south for our winter headquarters, we have seen several rigs going north. Where the heck are they going? Don't they know that it is not wise to go north this time of year? I just think we have too much time on our hands, huh. By the way, my Dad used to cure olives every year in California and they taste like none you have ever bought. I can't hardly eat a store bought one. Ann

  31. Just driving down the road, where are all those people going to or coming from? They all have a story.

  32. We're not wondering when you'll get out of that parking lot anymore, We're now PRAYING it will be real soon.

  33. I'm wondering when the darn allergies will get better so I can sleep prone in the bed! My two cents' worth is that you should do more wandering and less wondering! :)

  34. Judy! You sound like Andy Rooney with all that wondering! Too funny!

  35. Howdy J&E,
I 'used' to think I liked olives, until I read
the comment from John & Ann.. Now I wish I could get some from her dad.. I know that thinking is good 'mind exercise', but you've been doing too much!!! The pics are good ones, from a parking lot!! I don't know how you keep Emma satisfied in the coach, without exercise; all of the Labs I've known want to RUN RUN RUN!!

We were thinking about trying to raise olives out here on the ranch, so, I checked it out with
the Texas Agriculture web-site.. Hoo boy, if
you have a lotta $$$$$$$$$ you can go into business, but there is just that one guy in
Texas that controls the olive market.. Not for
ranchers during drouthy yeas!!!!! Come on by if
you get a chance, so I can pet Emma..

  36. I DO wonder about where people are going in planes flying overhead. I also wonder what people are doing when I pass homes or apartments with the windows lit.

I like olives, too, but I forget about them. Lately I've been having chopped olive sandwiches. Open can, dump in bowl, add Best Foods Mayo and mix. Pile onto fresh bread and eat. Yum!

Coins found in parking lots are "lucky."
