♪ ♫ I feel good… ♫ ♪

♫ You know that I should, now…♫  This morning, Pam and I headed for Robyn’s house so I could pick up the new DISH receiver that I had sent to her house.  Stan didn’t quite feel up to the trip (with their recent loss of Mitzi), so it was a girl’s day out.  Of course, both of us were prepared to take advantage of their new pool, so it was a very refreshing morning.  Smile  Robyn, Dennis, the grandgirls, Pam, and I splashed around to our heart’s content for close to two hours.

IMG_2432The plan was to catch lunch on the way back to the rigs at Corky’s.  And that’s what we did.  Hotdogs are big in the Chicagoland area.  I had stopped here for a ‘dog’ a while back, and wanted to introduce Pam to this eatery.

Tunes from the 60’s were blasting away as we placed our orders.  This is a very busy place, and I was just lucky to get a few shots in between rushes.  A couple of guys gave us funny looks as I took pictures inside.

Pam ordered the ‘Chicago Dog’ with mustard, pick-a-lily, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, and a pickle. (that’s what I had the last time)  With fries, it came to a total of $2.99!  Can’t beat that.  I’ve decided to do a study on Italian Beef sandwiches in the area.  Next time, I’ll order it without the cheese.  I love Italian Beef sandwiches, and really haven’t found them except in the Chicago area.  I did that comparison study of shrimp po-boys in the south, so thought I should do the same here for Italian Beef.  Smile  It was huge, and ended my  eating for the day.

Once we got back home, I began the work of installing the new DISH receiver.  That’s really why I’m so happy.  Being technically challenged, I wasn’t sure how it would go for me.  It turned out, that the actual switch out was a breeze.  Then there was the matter of calling DISH to have the new receiver activated.  I actually got a person who spoke pretty good English, and after about a half hour, everything was working.  The only downside was that all my favorite channels and recording of shows has to be reprogrammed by me for this new receiver.  Ugh!  That will take some time to figure out what channels I want to record what shows, but all in all, I was kind of shocked that I got all those cables and things attached correctly.

Pam, Stan, and their remaining dog George came over for the evening, and we chewed the fat for quite a while as the dogs got upset over the folks still setting off firecrackers in the area.  I sure wish fireworks were illegal in Indiana, but they’re not.  The 4th of July is over with for Pete’s sake!

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. As I've aged, I enjoy fireworks less and less. I love the professional displays with emphasis on beauty, but I hate noisy stuff with a passion. In part it is because of what it does to my pets. And people who go on and on and on with them are just jerks.

  2. I'm impressed -- I wouldn't have a clue how to begin to set up a satellite dish! All I can say is "You go, Girl!"

  3. Way to go. You make all of us proud. I don't think I would have even tried to do it. Looking forward to hearing about the Italian beef sandwiches and which one finally wins.

  5. I wish fireworks were banned all over. It's the loud, dangerous, illegal ones that I really hate and calling the local constabulary does nothing but elicit condescension for being a spoilsport. Although it has be less intrusive this year, there are still the few odd explosions going off and I swear the dogs are suffering from PTSD. Anyway, that's my rant for the night - sorry!! Congrats on getting your new dish set up and operational. No doubt in my mind that you could do it!

  7. Yes, we are still getting the firecracker noise every evening too. Rusty just goes crazy, and hides behind my chair or under Don's legs. The food looks great and cheap too. That's my kind of meal... :)

  10. Way to go, techno girl! That's left up to me in the cathouses also, so I understand your joy!

DISH seems to have realized their customers unhappiness of foreign dialect when trying to do those technical jobs... I haven't had that experience for quite awhile now when getting tech assistance!

  11. Good for you! I always try to set things up and if I can't I'll call in help. I've never tried a satellite dish! Bummer about having to reprogram everything, but at least you've got it working and can enjoy your shows. My son owned Woodies Chili Dogs in San Diego for a while, and the Chicago Dog was my favorite. Just like the one you showed. I almost always got that one. Yum!

  12. You are so right, about Chicago Hot Dogs, anyone who goes to the Chicagoland area and doesn't sample a few dogs is sure missing out.Glad to see you got the TV box figured out. I ah my son's girlfriend call my three in when they sent us the new ones, she is really great with that satellite stuff.I'm lucky I can talk on a cell phone, which surprises Donna because I am so good with mechanics and computers, but other boxes just confuse me. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...
