About 45 minutes ago, the electricity went out for the second time, and this time it stayed off. High winds and t-storms moved through the area. I just heard from Jack, and he says the electric is out all the way up to Lake Michigan. Hmmm, sounds like it might be a generator night. I’m not surprised. Temps today reached 97*! That’s a little too warm for this old bird. Emma and I spent the afternoon inside the rig with the AC going.
This morning, we took a trip to find Brown and Brown RV in Bourbonairre, IL. That ’s where the insurance company wants me to take the rig to be worked on. I’m sure glad I scoped it out in the car first. It’s real close to Kankakee in a very busy area. It’s a heck of a lot easier to snoop around and find a place in a little car than it is in the rig.
Once I got there, I talked to the service manager and have set up an appointment for a week from Monday. They have hookups available, so I’ll be able to stay overnight if needed. That was one colossal relief to me. Maybe I ought to start a blog about camping in repair shop parking lots. It seems I continue to gain unwanted experience in that department.
Well, the worst of the weather seems to have passed, so I’ll end this, get it posted, and then rev up the generator to recharge the battery.
Thanks for stopping by … talk to you later, Judy
Sure hope your electricity comes back on soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to explore unknown territory in a car before taking the MH whenever possible.
Stay cool!!
hope the power stays on!..at least you got your blog posted!
ReplyDeleteHope you and the pup stay cool.
ReplyDeleteYou do seem to have an inordinate amount of time in repair shop parking lots! But in other ways it is good that you've picked places with the facilities, given the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the electricity thing. Just think of it this way .... by living in an RV, you always have the generator back up; those of us in nailed-down homes lose electricity, and most of us are just stuck with it! Stay cool!
Best investment we ever made was the generator and one strong enough to run the AC. It's come in real handy too the odd time we've lost power at the house!
ReplyDeleteYes, a blog site reviewing the camping facilities at RV repair places...the time has come! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the heat, humidity, and winds all die down soon. Is bad weather followingt you wherever you go? :)
You could write a great book on your RV repair shop experiences (like a travel book but different?) for staying over night!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should start offering showers and laundry, more ppl seem to be fulltiming than ever - would be nice to see that for sure!
Cheers!
I'm with you - if I can check out the place ahead of time in the car, it is so much easier on my nerves. Hope your electricity comes back on before too long. Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteWe check out a lot of places first. Many times we are glad we did because we won't go back.
ReplyDeleteAC in a motorhome just isn't cool enough when the temperature outside is pushing 100!
I think that storm front you had was the same one that came barreling through Ontario heading south like a freight train. Thousands of homes had their electricity knocked out here as well. It missed us here in Bayfield but I did happen to get a picture of it far off to our east heading south down into your neck of the woods I think.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you got your appointment to have your rig repaired. Being able to stay there without a motel is a plus. Have a great week and be safe out there, Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteA book of your experiences...perfect...I see it as a best seller..."Judy's Judgmental Journal of Jangled Nerves and Jaunts AND.. Juggling RV Repair Parking Lot Jitters" ...Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteMy daughter in Zionsville lost her electric last night..got it back about midnight..Looked like some pretty nasty storms all around you!!! Stay safe!!
Smart move to check out the repair facility in your small car first. Hope your power manages to get fixed and stay on.
ReplyDeleteWe've been getting it down here today. Our electric went out twice so far, but comes right back on. Just when you think it is all over, another storm will hit. Not near as bad as last week though. Stay cool. Good one about the blogging about repair shops!!
ReplyDeleteWe could add a few chapters for you :) We notice too that when the temps get to 100' or higher we can only cool the rig to about 85' Not fun.
ReplyDeleteHope the repairs go quickly with nothing unexpected arising.
