I did venture outside late this afternoon to try my hand at some more hummingbird pictures. Late afternoon is when the sun is in a good position to light up the feeders.
I had a new visitor at the Hard (Red) Rock Bird Cafe today. A male broad-tailed hummingbird stopped by for a sip of nectar.
Lurking inside the shadowy nearby pine tree is the male rufous hummingbird. He blasts off his perch to defend the feeder that is hanging on the pine tree at Jim’s site. What a feisty dude he is!
Emma and I plan to drive one of the scenic/historic Idaho Byways tomorrow. I just haven’t decided which one yet. I have a guide to Idaho’s scenic byways, and it just depends on how long of a drive I’m interested in doing. We’ll see how the weather is in the morning.
Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later, Judy
Judy, those hummingbird pics are fabulous. You do a great job of getting a close-up.
ReplyDeleteYou left a comment on my blog about the calendar you saw on the fridge. No, it is not a magnetic calendar...just plain old paper. I copy several for each month from my on board printer and stick one on the fridge. The others I use for all sorts of planning activities.
I'll be eager to read about which scenic byway you choose! Have fun, drive safely.
Judy I am jealous!! Those pics of the hummingbird are terrific. Mike and I are working on learning how to take better birding pics. I really want to get the hummer in flight or at least showing the wings in movement.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are enjoying your washer/dryer now. I do like the idea that I don't have to go to the laundromat....it really waste time when I could be out doing something else. With my own washer/dryer I can do the laundry in the evening if I wish.
Take care and keep those pics coming!!

Great pictures of the hummingbirds, Judy! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteGreat hummer photos & you even stopped the wings in motion. Despite putting humming bird feeders out over the years we just have not been able to attract them although I do see them outside around the flowers sometimes. Tried 3 different types of feeders but nothing worked. Photographing birds takes a lot of patience but is a lot of fun as well & the results can be very rewarding.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hummingbird photos! They're such pretty little birds.
ReplyDeleteGreat Hummer pictures, I am still waiting for our first to find the feeder, it's been three days , of course there had been a lot of activity in the area with the chains saw going in the mornings and the tractor dragging limbs so maybe the birds are hiding out till it's quiet again. Have fun and be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteI would say the new camera is working well-great hummingbird photos!
ReplyDeleteLove the hummingbird pics.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! A bit of a cold snap around here would be welcomed.
ReplyDeleteThe bird with wings extended looks like it has fairy wings. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Those shot are really good! You never get to see one up close because they zoom around so fast. Fun to see what they look like close up. Thanks!

Can you take one more complement? Pictures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI liked the info about Earthquake Lake. I felt I was still in Wyoming, that is until you mentioned the cold weather. It is over 90 here with a humidity that would wilt a new perm. Add a billion mosquitoes and I wish I was back at 7000 ft. Nice stop action on the hummers wings by the way.
ReplyDeleteThose are great pictures! I really need to improve mine :)
