I’m sure that’s how many of the campers at the park feel today, especially since it’s a three day holiday weekend. Being retired and living fulltime on the road, I’m just happy I know it’s Friday! :) After a couple of good walks, Emma spent the rest of the morning out in the “front yard” while I caught up on blog reading and commenting. I also put in a couple of hours on my favorite online game…flip words2.
This afternoon, we headed out to investigate one of the local roads hoping to see some wildlife.
Not much was about, but the scenery was pleasant…
The paved road turned into gravel through the National Forest, and the high winds were really blowing the dust around.
You’ll have to take my word for it that these are all cliff swallows. They were all nesting under a small bridge that went over a creek. They all took flight as I approached the little bridge on foot. If there weren’t several vehicles approaching creating massive dust bowls, I may have tried to stay longer and wait for the birds to calm down.
The wind was blowing strong enough this evening to keep the mosquitoes at bay, so Emma and I enjoyed sitting outside. I decided to put up my hummingbird feeder tonight, and within five minutes, a couple of rufous hummers came for a sip. If you’ve been reading my blog for very long, you know that I really like to photograph hummingbirds. They are such a challenge. Those little wings just beat so fast it’s hard to get a picture that isn’t a blur. Once they get used to the feeder, I’ll be trying to see if I can get a fantastic photo. :) This is a good weekend to do that.
I received a comment today, from Rick, asking what kind of camera I have. Well, I did use a Canon Rebel XS until it bit the dust a couple of weeks ago. I decided that I wanted another Canon so that I could continue to use the 75-300mm telephoto lens that I have, so I purchased a Canon XT. So far, I’m pretty happy with my decision. It would be a good decision for me to read the instruction book from beginning to end this weekend. I hope I do that. :)
Sam also asked that I post a picture of the new camera, a while back. I’d like to do that, but it’s a challenge when you only have one working camera. :) I’m planning to get the old camera fixed eventually, so that I don’t have to keep changing lenses every couple of minutes. I’ll need Janna’s help, however, in figuring out where to send the old camera since I can’t seem to find that on the internet.
Thanks for stopping by….talk to you later, Judy

You could maybe try taking a picture of your camera in the mirror:))
ReplyDeleteSorry about putting you on the spot with my request for a picture, Duh I should have remembered you other camera was broke, maybe a neighbor will take a shot and give you the file on a disk, Did you get the insurance with the new camera? We did ,it was $79 for three years including dropping it and clutziness, a big plus for Sam. We did ask what it would cost for repairs if something happened without the insurance and the fellow at the camara store said on any of the big body camera's it probably would run about $150-200 for most any repair, and that any camera shop that sells Canon's can send them in for repairs. This is not available at Wal-mart's or discount stores. However I got a better price at Crave Coure Camera in St Charles MO. than what Walmart had. Your Rebel is a good camera so it may be worth the bucks to get it fixed. We are now a two camera family again, Donna will carry the Lumix and Sam will carry the SX20. Rigg's will have to tough it out without taking pictures. Say Hi to Emma and give her a lick from Rigg's. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteJudy, post a comment to my blog with your email address in it and (I will delete it) and I will send you the link to Canon repair. It really was a totally great experience, camera back in a week. I have a friend who sent an older Canon in for a tune-up and was very pleased with the service and price, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info as to what type of camera you have, Judy. More evidence today in your pictures that you made a great choice with that one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy for the pics! Love them! I've added your blog to my list. Cheers! Merri
ReplyDeleteI wonder how I will react when I encounter mosquitoes again. We have very few here because it is dry all summer. When I lived in Wisconsin I got bites as a kid, but then as an adult they didn't cause an itchy bite. I could watch them bite me, but no reaction.
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was because I was a smoker. (Not any more, quit 9 years ago.)
Great pictures and what a nice view you had on your drive today!! Looking forward to your hummingbird pics. You know how much I love these fantastic little birds. I am still working on a great pic but it IS hard because they are so fast and those little wings just move like a blur.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
