It’s been a dreary five days

Some rain, some brisk winds, and overcast skies have prevailed for the last five days.  Makes for pretty boring days here.  I worked on the computer for the refuge on Monday, and then spent the last two days doing not much of anything.  It’s a string of days like this that makes me wonder why I write this blog.  There’s really nothing interesting or exciting to report.

In desperation early this evening, I decided to gather the trash and take it to the dumpster.  Exciting, right?  Well, when I pulled the garbage can out from underneath the sink, I noticed a puddle of water.  Nuts!  So I bent over to check the trap fittings under the kitchen sink.  One was wet, so I tried to tighten it.  I have always had trouble with that ‘Lefty-Loosey, Righty-Tighty’ thing.  Seeing as I was essentially standing up side down, of course I loosened it instead of tightening it. Disappointed smile  You can guess what happened to that little leak.

                                                                  “She’s spying on us again!”

After taking care of the trash and recyclables, I headed back to the rig to upload a few pictures that I took in back along Flat Lake.  In this pic, I wanted to put the subtitle in a speech bubble emitting out of the mouth of one of the swans.  As some of you know, you can’t do that anymore with Picasa 3.9, so I tried to go to Google+ to edit the picture.  OMG!  That sure didn’t work.  I couldn’t figure out how to even find this picture since it wasn’t in any of the folders that Google+ had decided I had.  It was another one of those tear your hair out situations for me.  Those improved editing options must be there somewhere, but I sure couldn’t find them.  I’m hoping that maybe Rick will do a tutorial on how to get all your pictures into Google+, and tell me how the heck I get pictures there that I want.

You can see in these photos just how dull and dreary it has been around here.  Tomorrow I’m off to get some new shoes for the toad, and take care of other errands in Detroit Lakes.  The weather guessers have been forecasting sunny skies for several days, but it hasn’t happened yet.  I sure hope they get it right soon.

Thanks for stopping by… talk to you later,  Judy

  1. Some days are just dreary.... but... what a life!

  2. Those sink taps are tricky. righty-tighty -- lefty-loosey is counter intuitive here.

  3. You sound like you are ready to move on to greener pastures. Winding down at one place before going to another is not always easy. If you wonder why you write a blog just go back and look at those pictures you posted today. A thousand words for each!

  4. I agree...I sure enjoy your photography and your posts!
I hope your mess wasn't too big. I don't have a clue about Google+ and don't really want to know...just lazy that way! I see all the neat collages and pictures with quotes or arrows pointing to something and admire them.

Hope to or row is sunny! Good luck at the tire store.

  5. You write your blog because we all enjoy it no matter what you are doing or not doing. I like hearing about ordinary days. Did you gave a lot of water to mop up?? Did the leak get fixed??

  6. I hate when Google+ or Picasa change something. Takes me forever to find out how it works, and then they are coming out with something new again.

  7. Blogger has made some changes as well. What a pain.

I don't know if I would rather have dreary or 3 digit heat which we are having again. Can't wait to hit the road this weekend.

  8. Too bad that when you loosened the sink connections, it didn't wash away your boredom... ;c)

  9. I haven't quite figured out how to get all my photos onto Google+ either. I have found the new editing options, but they aren't quite as easy to use as the old ones on Picasa.

Al and I always argue over righty, tighty. He says it's always righty, tighty, lefty loosey, but I say....it depends on your perspective.

  10. Aren't the weather guessers amazing. We've been hiking a couple times in the last several days with 0-10% chance of rain. Rained most of the day and we got soaked... :-)

  11. Now Judy, your supposed to tell that story ... " I decided just to take the pipe off and clean out the trap". Lots of my maintenance starts out as an accident.

  14. Sure hope your water issue got solved! I hate seeing a drop of water anywhere...it usually means something is leaking somewhere!

  15. At the bottom of Picasa 3.9 there's a big green button that says "Share on Google+" that opens a dialog box where you can create a new album, or use an existing one, to load pictures to G+ Photos. I'll try and get a tutorial ready for my next blog in Google+ Corner.

    Like those Eagle shots.

  18. Gee, I'm sorry that when you loosened the water pipe you ended up with a whole lake AND GEESE under your sink! ;-)

  19. I've been looking at Google+ for my blog too, not just the pictures. Sort of makes it easier (maybe), since all your pictures are going to be there too but I guess it's more like facebook? I'm all ready totally confused about all these 'circles' for starters :-(

  20. Technically I'm way behind the curve. I can't even figure out how to get photos into Photoshop...I think I have photoshop, wait a minute, let me go check...yep Adobe Photoshop. Sometimes I get a photo in there so I can edit it, but so far I'm not sure how I did it so the next time I try I have to bumble around till I accidentally upload (or download??) a photo again. Frustrating. I even bought a book to help me but it was all about what to do in the edit screens..which I have sort of figured out already, nothing about how to get the photos INTO the program. Sigh.

  22. I have to be dragged into every change in the Google process. Sometimes, I would just like things to just be left alone:(

  24. Vietnam is an interesting destination you should visit. I'm sure when to Vietnam you will be surprised by the vibrant life here. Specifically, you will be attracted by the Vietnamese cuisine.
